Who will win the Australian Open 2010?
Who will win the Australian Open 2010?
I think it is very difficult to answer that question, would you have asked me what I thought of the Roland Gaross winner or even the Wimbledon winner I believe that I would have a much easier job in picking my favourites.
I love the atmosphere and intensity of the tournament, the oceanblue courts are fantastic and there is always a positive feeling comming from the crowd. There has been som major upsets and surprises at the Australian Open, I mean who would believe that Thomas Johansson from Sweden would win it in 2002?
The reason that it is difficult to pick the winner, in my opinion is because of how long it is between the US Open and the Australian Open. Most people has had the chance to rest during the christmas holidays and are in shape and hungry to chase after the first Grand Slam title of the year. It has to be a great confidenceboost for anyone who does well in this tournament and a great start of the year.

I love Roger, I really do. He is the person I tried to copy in my progression to become a better player so he will always be a rolemodel for me. But If Roger is going to be a true World No. 1 in my opinion, he is going to be it by beating Nadal at a Wimbledon Final and in an Australian Open final. Or atleast beat him in the next few meetings. If he manages to do that, I can call him the World No. 1 again. But becoming it because the former No. 1 couldnt keep playing due to injuries, that just does not feel right.. :)

Fed will be looking to turn the tears of sadness from a year ago into tears of victory. We've already seen DelPotro's post slam slump start, so I'm not looking at him. Finals might be Fed and Nadal or maybe Tsonga. Since Oz loves to produce surprise finalists on the men's side, Monfils may just get his head together and make a run.

I agree with you. Its a test to see who had the best "off-season" which really isn't off at all - means tons of training and getting by the drawing board in terms of strategy too. I'm thinking your man in the photo has to be a favorite - he'll be fixed (hopefully) and hungry (definitely!).
