You were right about the nerves. Baker, proved that by winning those two tie-breaks against Malisse.
Comment by Alex Daniels on May 28, 2012 at 11:57pm No I don't either. Skill wise he's not on level with the other top players but he's definitely got the game to be top 50.
Comment by Tim Prapong on May 28, 2012 at 11:02am Too late for Baker to win a slam. He'd have to surmount the level of the Top 3 and I don't see that.
Comment by Alex Daniels on May 28, 2012 at 2:45am This guy is obviously a smart player and he was in the "zone" during this match. I'm not sure if he'd be able to play like this on a consistent basis but he's got good athletic ability.
27 is not too old to win a slam, look at Andre or Roger. Heck Ferrer is in the top 6 and he's 30 years old. The top 10 are all 25 or older (with the exception of Del Potro.) There is a clear change towards older players sticking around and continuing to have success later in their careers.
I don't think he's a slam contender but like Almagro said "If he continues to play at this level, he's going to win tournaments."
Comment by Tim Prapong on May 26, 2012 at 12:06pm 27 is not too old to get something done. Not a Slam, but make some waves.
Comment by Chin Be on May 25, 2012 at 10:55pm I'm glad you're convinced Tim. This guy has skills and some pretty good nerves.
Comment by Tim Prapong on May 25, 2012 at 7:04pm Very nice service motion! It's kinda like Fish, but more rounded like Sampras in the windup. And those laser forehands! Very convincing.
