This was a pretty tough one to call.
Does Soderling not show up after the massive victory against Nadal? Or does he put things right back into 5th gear and play a highly aggressive, high risk tennis?
Those questions were answered pretty quickly with Soderling crushing the Russian, 6-1, 6-3, 6-1.
Soderling again played ultra aggressive tennis with deep, deep groundies that make it hard for anyone out there to hit deep back. Soderling was rewarded with all kinds of short, weak returns and that was the story...34 winners to Davydenko's 15.
Soderling is going to have to face clay court expert Fernando Gonzalez in the semi's, and if he wants to move into the finals...He's going to have to play with exactly the same reckless abandon that got him there in the first place. Gonzalez is absolutely a quality opponent, and would make a fine finalist here. I was worried for Murray before he ate it against Gonzalez, I'm going to stick with the same sentiment for Soderling here.
Enjoy the matches tomorrow!
