Simply put, the 2010 French Open is the most eagerly awaited grand slam tournament since Wimbledon 2008.

Try all you want, but there is no possible way you could convince me otherwise. Going into Wimbledon in 2008, the Federer v Nadal rivalry was at its zenith. Nadal had just embarrassed Federer at Roland Garros and had been a whisker away from defeating Federer at Wimbledon in 2007. Wimbledon 2008 was it. Federer was trying to surpass Bjorn Borg’s mark of five successive Wimbledon titles and Nadal was going for the French Open and Wimbledon double and had purchased a penthouse apartment in Federer’s head.

As George Costanza would say, world’s were colliding, except in this case it was a good thing. The end result was arguably the greatest match ever played and the match that catapulted Nadal into the all-time tennis pantheon of great champions.

Right now, the planets are once again aligning themselves for an epic showdown.
