I could have won 26 grand slam events if I played modern day tennis!!!!!!!

Yes, federer has wond 16 slams and Nadal a bunch as well. But remember, back in the late 1970's thru 1980's, there wasnt a tennis court in america that wasnt taken.. Tennis was at an all time popularity and I remember WAITING to play . The junior competition was flooded with players. Nowadays, you go to a local court and you hear crickets and the nets are falling off!!!! (at least here in the states)
I hear excuses about how the racquet technology has improved etc. etc... Thats all b.s. I can take a jack Kramer or my Maxply Mcenroe wood racquets strung with VS gut and demolish most players.... It all boils down to fundamentals, not the racquets or the tennis balls...
Sorry, but i had to get that off my chest!

My instructor used to say that a good player can play with a shoe, the racquet doesn't matter...and then he'd take off his shoe and make us hit the ball to him...and he'd return it with his shoe :-)
As for empty courts, I want to move where you live! We jump through hoops (or maybe over nets) to get court time in NYC.

i was taught the closed but could never adjust to it so i got a new coach and he thought the same way as you jun! so now i am hitting an open forehand and watching the pros on how they hit it.
