THE LOW DOWN: Rafa loses in Rome - which baller will step up now?

OMG - The tennis world is in a tizzy after Rafael Nadal lost today on the terr(ier) bateau and offered up a rare clay-court chew toy for any number of ballers still left in the draw.

The Mallorcan matador lost only his second match in 105 matches to compatriot Juan Carlos Ferrero in Rome today, suffering a shocking 7-5, 6-1 defeat. But I guess it wasn't so shocking since he was suffering from a blister on his right foot:
Today when I woke up, I said it was impossible to play. I spoke to the doctor today and yesterday, and they put special protection on it and cream, but it was still tough.
In any case, Rafa's loss blows the draw wide open for Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and even David Ferrer to make a run to the title and gain confidence for Roland Garros.

Hey doggie, who wants it more?

Yeah, I was just TRYING to be daring;)
Well now we know, Djokovic vs. Stepanek and Wawrinka vs Roddick in the semis
Both Stephanek and Djokovic are playing beautifully, but I say Djokovic.
Don't know between the other two... gotta wish for Roddick, though.

"which baller will step up now?"
I would like to see Robredo, Almagro, Wawrinka and now Stepanek, in the semis.:) It'd be nice to see Wawrinka vs. Almagro in the finals.

Roger is now the favorite to win; I would like to think Nole or even Almagro have a good chance.

Yes, I signed up under Tennisopolis, but since I was the only one (I think), I had Britishtennis as my 2nd choice, so that's what I'm under. I was very excited, as I was up 60, but now since Rafa losing..;(

in most cases on clay rafa is the smart choice...he's still the one to beat but his loss makes it more interesting for sure

Yep, you a liar! JK. :-) I didn't promote this pick 'em on the site. I've been waiting to promote the majors and so I got my sights on the French. Did you sign up under the Tennisopolis team Elaine?

Call me a liar but I swear, even though in the Rome Pickems I picked Rafa to win.. something was telling me not to..

Which, by the way, why hasn't anyone from Tennisopolis been entering in the Pickems' contests?

We all are going to lose, now, as majority obviously picked Rafa to win.

Congrats to Ferrero.
