Andy Murray has seldom been one to run from trouble. So while the prospect of facing World No. 1 Roger Federer in the opening round of the Barclays Dubai Tennis Championships posed a high degree of difficulty on the surface, it didn't stop the 11th-ranked Scot from dispensing some well-timed trouble shooting to dismiss defending champion Federer, 6-7(6), 6-3, 6-4.
Murray carried more than the two titles he's won this season and the memory of his previous win over Federer — he carried the self-confidence to compete with the four-time Dubai champion.
"The most important thing is just to believe you can win the match," Murray said. "I think too many times on the tour some guys try to play almost too well, and it’s really important to stay patient and not make rash decisions early in the match. And I definitely didn’t do that today. That’s one of the keys.".....
