Hi everyone. Could someone who is more informed of the stats. on the grand slams. But does Wimbledon over the years has produced the most upsets. It seems to have emerged that way to me. What with Venus's huge upset. Looking at what has transpired with Sharapova and Ivanovic - just what are the stats?

I was watching ESPN this morning and they said it was the first time in the Open era (last 40 years) that the women's #1, 2 & 3 seeds didn't make it to the QF's. Wimbledon is the only Grand Slam that generates it seedings based on grass court results. For example, Marcos Baghdatis was seeded #10 this year, even though his current ranking is #20. He reached the Wimbledon SF 2 years ago and QF last year. Roger for 6!!!

That's a damn good question, but I think you are on to something. I don't know the stats, but I bet there are more upsets here. The seeds are made mostly by rankings, but without much input based on each player's GRASS results. This partially explains it - but it certainly doesn't explain Djokovic, Masha, and Ivanovic.

Crazy year is what I say!
