Sorry, I completely forgot you're new to tennis. I should have told you to go sign up for lessons first. I'm not really sure where you can take lessons from, but I know there are a lot of classes around. Maybe you may want to ask the Moiliili Community center or your old high school PE teachers. I think UH offers a tennis course during the school year, but that won't be another month (I don't attend UH so I can't verify this).
I can try to give you an introductory tennis lesson, but I'm not an expert so don't know how good of an idea that is :P If you just want to play for now, just grab a few friends, tell them to get rackets, and just hit some balls. Just don't do this for too long otherwise you'll form bad habits that will be hard to change when you play for real.
Hey Ray! Saw your post on the Oahu Tennis Players page. As for a racket, you should check out McCully Bicycle and Sporting Goods that should be in your area (right across from McCully Library). I'm not a pro in tennis, but if you're going to play more often and serious, then it might not be a bad idea to invest in a moderately priced racket (not any of those $15 kinds).
If you rent rackets from McCully Bikes, however much you spend to rent one can be used as discount when buying your racket from McCully Bikes! Good luck!
To get started, pleaseupload a photo or avatar for yourself (if you haven’t already.) Whether it's of you, your dog, or your racquet it doesn't matter, but it helps people remember you. You can also personalize Your Page with pictures, links, RSS feeds, colors and more here.
Thanks to everyone inviting their friends, we now have over 20,000 members and we're growing by 80 new members a day. Invite yours too!
