Out of the Parks and into the club . . . West Side Tennis Club in Forest Hills that is

If you didn't start playing tennis until 1975, perhaps you don't know that West Side Tennis Club in Forest Hills housed the US OPEN for at least five decades.  What you also might not know is that memberships are available with especially enticing deals for players not yet 31.  Check it out at http://www.foresthillstennis.com/ and if asked how you found out about the club, say that Isobel Kleinman sent you.

Tiring of the parks, the waits, the behavior, the condition of the courts, I went looking for another option and learned that West Side Tennis Club @ Forest Hills is offering a huge deal to players 31 and under. If you love tennis, you should check it out. It is something else to play where the greats once played (the US OPEN was played there until the National Tennis Center was built), see the stadium, play on grass, enter the club house lined with pictures of the greats, enjoy amenities which…See More

Boy, what a world of difference to belong to a club where each person is as important as the next. And, to my shock (I joined anticipating that I would only stay there for a summer), the people were so nice (not snooty as I thought) that I have stayed.
