I don't mind running forwards after jumping with my whole body into the serve. But running side to side forty ball rallies with 65 mph balls, screw that.

Yeah, if you look up Fischer's record, he does have a few losses in his early career. I'll look up your friends name. Chess is a minor hobby of mine.

Ah, broken toe is nasty. Too bad you didn't have a chance to really finish the match with an injured opponent. Well, 5.5 is a weird category then. But I don't blame them 5.0s playing 5.5 instead of Open. I've spectated a few Open matches and I think I would be the same way. That's way too much running for me as I am forty and I hate running. I like cycling 60 miles, but not running.

Well, I promised myself three years ago, that if I felt at any time, I had mastered to a high degree, every stroke in the game, I would begin to do tournaments as a 40 year old. So I wanted to practice endlessly without having to be under the pressure to win a point and using what I know. I wanted to understand the mechanics of every major player in complete detail. This month, I feel ready in my knowledge. Now I need to spend a three or four months on my fitness and practice sets with tournament players. It sounds like fun. Only problem is I need to get an income. lol

5.5's at a national level are run by current future level players. 5.5 tournaments are won by good 5.0's that are too scared to play opens =)

In my case a client hit the 4.0 circuit hard last year. I followed him to some ntrp tournaments and would play the highest level available.

That one set I won the guy pulled out after. He had a straight up broken toe and a world ranking.

Just like all ntrp divisions there is a big difference between tournament and league caliber players. I got excited when I saw you were a 5.5

And tim your right. 5.5 players play opens so there was only two or three tournaments this yr?

The only 5.5 on the court last night was justin garcia (#2 singles #1 doubles for davis) last year. he's 24.

I got the better of him last night =)
