Hmm, let's have a serve duel contest between Arianne Kim and Mike Dong. That would be cool. lol

the trick to grips is to use whats most comfortable & what works/has the most effect.

Wow William, quite a professional response, "Forget what the other pro said about it." You really put me in my place with that line. ;-)=

Have fun and good luck.

my mistake...i used a continental grip before but wanting to try other grips....i thought i was using a grip that was closer to the semi western grip....i will try the eastern FH grip and compare how it feels and plays....thanks william

Open Style Serve NICE!.  practice throwing a football to make it better. ps the football must be a spiral.

 nice angle

Forget what the other pro said about it. Use any grip you want from an eastern forehand to a Continental, forget the eastern backhand grip. Check out my Vid on serve

Dear Arianne, I don't want to step on anyone's toes, but going from an Eastern BH grip to a Semi-Western grip only feels good in short-term, probably from familiarity with FH. The best servers use mostly the Continental grip, followed by the Eastern BH grip. I am a Tennis Pro and studied the game in college at TJC, in Tyler, TX. If I lived in near you I'd offer you a few free lessons to demonstrate. So, if you are ever in Central Florida send me a message. Also, although it's blurred, your grip looks more like a composite of Eastern Forehand and Semi-Western...with your Base Knuckle on EFH, and your Heal Pad on SW. Please excuse length of post...just more to the serve than some might think.

John what about the grip used for serving...... I used an eastern backhand grip previously but my new semi western grip gives me much control/consistency......feels like I found my lost serve.... :)
