Look at his front arm, parallel to the baseline. He is using a forward open stance, where the right foot is ahead of the left.

federer's Unit Turn Old school Name is " Pivot Turn " Step swing. Unit turn is the new buzz word.

My friend uses that stance. Gets an aggressive cross court going.
