Wear a running shoes if you are comfortable with it. But their traction is different from tennis shoes. They have deeper grids to bite the road, tennis shoes on the other hand, has less more flat to get your foot stable when running side to side. If padding and cushion is your concern, like what Serge mention, get a different sole. I got a bad sprained ankle wearing running shoes when I started playing tennis 3 years ago and learned my lesson to use the right one.

I tried running shoes for one match and I was sliding on a hard court like it was the French Open.  Never again.  I use Adidas Barricade V for my shoe of choice.  If you don't like how tennis shoes are not padded get a different sole with gel in it, that might work for you.

Do any other intermediate players use running shoes in lieu of actually tennis-specific shoes?  In the store I've tried many tennis shoes and none of them seem to have much padding or shock absorption.  Then again, I suppose wearing running shoes for over a decade has skewed my perception of comfort.

Do you wear actual tennis shoes?

Yes, if it's clay in Spain, it's Nadal 90% and no doubt Federer will be No.1 again. He may not stay there for the entire year but he will step up for sure.

Happy Holidays everyone!

As for the Rafa/Roger debate, I would be very surprised if Rafa didn't win in Spain.  But beyond the exhibition matches, I like Fed's chances next year, I think he will be #1 again.

If the soil is clay then Nadal all the way ;)

Indeed Mike,

Best wishes for a safe and memorable holidays everyone.

FYI .... more tennis with Rafa and Roger in Madrid for charity tomorrow afternoon - Wednesday at 12 noon on ESPN.  Federer beat Nadal in three sets in Zurich and who will claim victory on Spanish soil?

Enjoy.
