I just moved to South Pasadena, CA from San Francisco. Anyone have a recommendation of where I should shop for a tennis racket in SoCal or even in SF?
I'm just a casual recreational player. I've only played with Babolat or Wilson oversized graphite rackets and I've been happy with them. I'm looking to get a nice one that's on sale for approx <$75.
Otherwise, I was thinking of just shopping at Sports Authority. But I don't like how you can't demo or how they don't have workers that play tennis there.
Thanks in advance!

Try Racket Doctor, 3214 Glendale Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90039. Their prices are reasonable and they have a knowledgeable staff.
i agree with joe.. they have an area in their rackets area ( to the left) where they have rackets at discounted prices and pre-strung...
There is also a great tennis shop in Westwood, called Westwood Tennis on Gayley next to Helen's Cycle. If you go in the back, on the left side, look down. There are brown boxes of demo racquets for sale for $50, all of last year's models. They are refurbished with new grips and strings. I have bought several from there. Rick and the boys are super nice too. They string Sampras' personal racquets! You can also demo three new models for $3 a day!
that's rite.. that's another great store... but they only take cash there no? I bought a used Wilson PS Classic 6.1 there!
Cash only. They're old school that way.
yeah.. that surprised the heck out of me.. makes sense with that old school cash register they have.. i wish that place wasn't so far.....when I was taking a class there once a week.. i made a point to visit that shop as much as I could...
Sometimes, their new racquet prices are on par with Racquet Doctor.
Thank you for the suggestions!! I'm excited to check out these places! Greatly appreciate it guys!
There's a used racquet store called Danny's Tennis in Rosemead near the corner of Valley and Rosemead across from the Carl's Jr. It is small and hard to see the banner. He has every old racquet you can imagine. Only thing is he wants close to full price for them. But he will take trades. Just don't expect alot for the trade. Nice guy though.
wow thanks Tim, that is close and i didn't even know it existed! lol
