This is absolute insanity!
Has anyone run the numbers on the liklihood of this happening?
People, including Murray, have suggested this should be on Centre Court, but do you think the organizers would risk it? It would wreck the schedule if it happened again!
Actually, I think John will win in 3 or 4 sets and a fairly simple affair.
Whether this year's match will be a straight one or not, last year's match between those two shows that tennis is not just about who is the greatest player of all times or who has won the most grand slam titles. It is virtually 100% certain that no match in the future will ever break the record unless there are any drastic rule or format changes to the game. Couple of other records that will be probably never broken.
1. Jimmy Connors is the only player who won US Open titles on all three different surfaces (grass, clay and hard).
2. Mats Wilander is the only player who won Australian Open titles on both surfaces (grass and hard).
I couldn't get the pick 'em to work - the site was down!
14,000 to 1 odds that these two play each other again this year.
Both men on court now, warming up, getting ready for the re-match on Court 3.
