Recognize these names, Frederico Gil, Marco Chiudinelli, Benjamin Mitchell? What about these players, Gilles Simon, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic?
These are just a few players John Isner has successfully defeated this 2012 season. The 6'9, 245lb pound Goliath has show that David's odds or not looking to great this year. WIth a record of 17-6, and four of those coming off of clay. Johns victory over Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and going five sets with Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros last year, one has to think that John is the leading Dark Horse going into the French open.

Izzy is good for a one or two round ordeal, but to expect more than that, I think the record speaks for itself. And if truly he is the American clay court specialist for the now, then we won't be winning any clay court tournaments for a while.

Permalink Reply by Bryan Tuck on April 26, 2012 at 6:12pm I'm just sayin... He demolished Federer on clay in Switzerland. The other "big 2" would have a really hard time doing that. Y'all seem to have forgotten that.

Bryan, I'm a huge Izzy fan, and it's not the first or second round that will be the problem, he will have to play top clay court players in round of 16 and quarters before he would face one of the bigs and that is where I think he will struggle, playing three possible tough matches in a row. Only time will tell, for me a quarterfinal showing would be solid result.
Permalink Reply by Tim Prapong on April 27, 2012 at 2:43am Hey, Bryan! Here's a proposition. If Izzy gets to the semis, I will mail you a can of tennis balls. If Izzy gets to the finals, I will mail you two cans. And if Izzy wins the French Open, I give you three cans.
However, if Izzy loses in the first round, you mail me three cans. Second round, you mail me two. Third round, you mail me one. Agreed?
Permalink Reply by Chin Be on April 26, 2012 at 6:53pm Maybe a little deeper in Tim but it all depends on the draw. If he meets quality first and second rounders he may bow out earlier.
