If Djoko makes it to the Semi-Finals of the French....

I would like to see him have to play against Federer.  Then if he wins, play Rafa.  I think in this format he does not have the strength to beat both at the French.  He didn't at the U.S. Open, and I don't think he will here either.  Your thoughts?

Before he gets that far, he will probably have to play DelPo in the 3rd round, possibly Belluci in the 4th round and then possibly Gasquet or Youzhny in the quarters.  Those are some potential difficult matches.
I think the DJoker at the US Open is a different beast than this one. He's months into his new diet and far more confident. Granted, his new diet may be having more of a mental impact than anything, but tennis is mostly mental to begin with. I would love to his a DelPo/Djoker 3rd round match up. I don't think he'll have that hard a time with Belluci if he gets past DelPo. I'll say this much: If he manages to make it through and win the whole tournament given his potential/imminent draw, it'll be hard to argue against him as the greatest play of the 2011 year.
If, he makes it all the way through and wins the FO, he will be the undisputed #1 for the year anyways.  I just don't see it happening.  It would make for a great story though, and tennis always needs a great story.
I hear you Mark. Its really hard for me, cuz Nadal has always been my favorite player. But Novak was as close a second as you could imagine, so its gut wrenching wanting both to win! And as much as it would make me excited to see Nole take it, he's yet to beat Nadal on best of 5 on clay. Thats an entirely different ball game.
Well, I am not so much of a Djoko fan.  Do I like him, yes, do I want him to be #1.  I don't think so, however, I don't think that is going to even be a discussion this year.  I think that is inevitable.  I absolutely love the fight Rafa puts into every match.  Not always pretty, but man what a fighter.  Thats what I like to see on the court.  I also enjoy seeing a player exert his will on another during a match.  It is fascinating to see those dynamics and see if the other has the mental fortitude to change or even challenge.  I guess that is another reason I am such a Rafa fan.  He has changed and adapted so that he could win on all courts, not just the clay he grew up on.
No argument my friend. He's unmatched on that. To me he brought the excitement to the mens game that Serena and Venus brought to the women's back in the late 90s.  There's nothing like seeing raw passion and will to come through a match!
Totally agree with you Cordell.  The fight is what makes it so stimulating to watch.
Update:  Both Fed and Nole have advanced to the 3rd round.  Fed will play the dangerous Tipsarevic, and Nole will play Delpo.  Both should be interesting matches.
Update:  Both Rafa and Murray win tough matches and advance.  So too does the Fish.  This marks the farthest he has ever been at the French.
If NOLE beats Federer and Nadal in the french that would be amazing!!!!
Truly it would be.  He is in a slugfest with Delpo now, they have to resume tomorrow, but it is at 1 set all.  Fed won easily earlier.  Pretty much destroyed Tipsarevic.
