When:
The Bronx Tennis Society's Spring League starts March 5th 2016 and finish around June 4th 2016, We also have open registration, so you may join in at any time.
Where:
All matches can be played in the Bronx public tennis courts or at any park that possesses decent tennis courts. If you want to play a match with a league official nearby then Pelham Bay Park is your only choice. Pelham Bay park is the home tennis courts of the Bronx Tennis Society.
League Format:
We will be using a partial round robin format to give you the player True Rating System (Elo) as well as providing a match. The Top player in the league will have the highest amount of points or the highest rating.
The Top Player with the most points Will be #1 in the League. You gain and lose points by the outcomes of your wins and losses, and who you win and lose to. You can gain more points by playing more matches in the league. All players begin the League with 1200 points.
All matches must have emailed and or txt the BTS hotline 347-201-0729 so we may calculate the players points at that time. Both players Must Txt/email in their match challenges prior and after matches to keep scores/ratings correct.
We will also help schedule matches. The reason for the round robin format included, is to provide you the league player, an accurate rating for the end of season tournament and future events. Bronx Tennis Society "Equal Strength Doubles tournament".
If we have an over flow of players, we may schedule more than 1 match a week.
You can accept and make as many challenges as you like. But don't have to accept a challenge after playing a league match to a fresh player.
You can challenge anyone, at anytime, at any position on the ladder. the Ladder position is determined by points accumulated from matches played.
Every week we will update the ladder positions on the face book page and have a printed list at Pelham bay park.
We may also have 4 or 3 blitz tennis events for the league players. Blitz Tennis is where the play a shorten format of just 10 point tie breakers or 1 set with 5 all tie breakers and we play as many matches as possible to even out the ladder. This will be a social event as well as count for position. Blitz tennis events will be played for less points than regular season matches.
Matches:
2 out of 3 sets with a 7 point tie-break at 6 all. Both players must bring a new can of balls. The winner will get the unopened can while the defeated player gets the used can.
All Matches Must be txt or emailed in by both players to the Bronx Tennis Society Hot-line before matches so we can account for points gained and loss. All players must accept at least 1 or more challenges per week. We will also assign matches in a round robin format to help more the league along.
Rules:
The “Code Of Conduct” & “Friend On Court (USTA)” will be used. The League Organizers will resolve all disputes and their decisions will be final. Please email in your disputes.
Prizes:
The Top Player at the end of the League will receive our Top Prize as well as Other Prizes will be handed out through out the season for achievements.
Fee:
$20 total cost per person for the season.
