Australian Open '09 Bracket Challenge

BritishTennis.net runs a "Battle Of The Boards" in which about 15 different tennis websites compete against one another. We (Tennisopolis) blew the other sites away last time with the most participants and several players toward the top of the leader board. "Over 800 people from 64 countries have taken part in these contests so far!" So, come support Tennisopolis and have fun following the matches for the next two weeks. Make your picks on this page at BT.

rough start, indeed! so much for 'statistical' analysis! i just check out the stats on the ATP website and then add a dash of instinct and hope i end up with a home run! (i love mixing metaphors.) well, at least all my 3rd-round guys are still there. maybe today will be a better day...

Just thought I'd drop in and say hi. You (mikeindo) had a much better day today and moved up 122 places, but one of your newbies, Anthony Constantino, has moved up to =2nd, just one point off the lead with 51/64 in R1!

The less said about your team position at the moment, the better (I think you might start doing better once you have a higher proportion of your players taking part more regularly - you kind of get a feel for how many shocks you should be predicting and which players tend to let you down.

so nalbandian loses. looks like a lot of us picked him to go a good bit further. i thought later - after i'd submitted picks - you know, he might fall early cuz lately he plays well except at the majors (not even a QF since '06 French). oh well, 20-20 hindsight and all that...

IIRC, Lu has recent wins over Murray and Simon. Lu has a pretty good game, but I didn't think he'd have enough to take out Nalbandian in a best of 5. Why I thought that? I don't know. Nalbandian is so up and down and never seems to take fitness all too seriously.

Great win for Santoro. This guy might play until he's 40. Kohls has a good game when he is playing well. I didn't see the match so I don't know how well he played. He got Santororized is all I know.
