For the men, I see Roger possibly getting to number 2 after Wimby/Olympics esp if Rafa isn't back to 100%. Lots of points to defend. There will be lots of movement in the top 12. Those guys will jostle and play musical rankings week in and week out. DelPo will probably be in the top 8 soon taking Janko and Mardy out of the top 10 (Mardy's not playing that well).
For the women, Serena is back and she's back with a vengeance. Her performance at the FCCup is something to take as a precursor of things to come. I'm not a SW fan but it looked like a Pro playing a high schooler the way "man"handled her opponents haha. I like Ana Ivanovic's current form. We should see her in the top 10 in the next month and a half or so. Petko hasn't been able to sustain her form and we're no longer seeing her deep in the tournaments. I hope she can turn this around. Julia G is another one I want to keep a look out for. Jelena Jankovic's on a slippery slope. I don't know when the skid will stop but it may be outside of top 30 soon if things don't turn around.
I agree Chin, look at how close the boys from 8 to 10 are in terms of their points:
8. Janko Tipsarevic (SRB) 2820
9. Mardy Fish (USA) 2725
10. John Isner (USA) 2710 (+1)
11. Juan Martin Del Potro (ARG) 2700 (-1)
Mardy is going down, Isner up fast and DP up steady. It will be an interesting battle to get into the top 8 for the year end championships.
The way the big boy is playing right now I think he'll take the top dawg by next week. If Mardy doesn't reach the semis in Houston and John makes it to the quarters I think it's his.
It definitely will be interesting to see the jostling that will go on. Speaking of defending a ton of points, Djoko has a load that he has to defend as well. I agree that Mardy will probably fall off, he hasn't done anything to inspire confidence in his game. Isner is doing incredibly well, and especially on clay. Will be interesting to see how he does during the clay season.
As for the women, what a beat down Serena gave everyone last week. Holy crap. Petko hasn't played because she is injured. Ana has been playing pretty good, it would be awesome to see her gain her confidence back. And wow, Oudin won two matches in a row. (Sarcasm at its highest.) Lots of young women doing good things right now, but not enough fire power to match what Serena did last week. Wonder if she can maintain that level.
