Yes, it has been a long time since I posted. My second league season ended in a bit of a whimper, with a loss. Of course, I was coming off of a couple of weeks of not playing at all which didn't make matters any better. As always, I did a bit better in the second set than the first, and I managed to make one interesting volley. There really wasn't that much in terms of highlights from that game.

My overall ranking at the end of this season was #5 out of 8 players, which is pretty good considering I was #7 out of 8 at the end of the first season. And I'm extremely glad I wasn't in the latter spot again, as the lowest two ranked players were bumped down to a 2.0 level. At least I (and one of my two subs, who won both her sets) played well enough to maintain 2.5.

So what am I doing to prepare for next season, which starts in about 2 and a half weeks? I took a private, 1 1/2 hour lesson with a coach to try to straighten out whatever went wrong with my ground strokes so I get some more power. I also have an improved serving technique. And with the help of my husband, I found out my biggest problem is my prep time before and after hitting the ball. So I am working on those things, and hopefully I will fare better next time around.

I also get the added bonus of getting to see my hubby play, as he finally got into the 3.5 league. The first season I played, he had signed up for the 3.0 and then rated a 3.5, which was full. And the second season, we actually overslept and missed registration which started at 6 AM. I made it in on the wait list, but unfortunately, he didn't. So this time around, we'll both get to be competitive in our respective leagues, which should be fun.
