This is a story that is equally bizarre and frightening.
A man has been charged with stalking former Wisconsin coach Barry Alvarez and tennis superstar Maria Sharapova.
Leonard Taylor Jr., played defensive back for the Badgers from 1995-1998 but it is unclear the connection between his former coach and Sharapova.
Taylor, who allegedly threatened to kill Alvarez, has been charged with one felony stalking count and one misdemeanor count of telephone harassment. His father claims Taylor is a diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic.
The Wisconsin State Journal reports that court records reveal that Taylor spent time in a mental health institute after stalking a woman in 2005.
He left 29 voicemails on Alvarez's office phone in a 24-hour period. He threatened both the coach and Sharapova in those messages. He said he wanted to kill Alvarez and also to marry Sharapova and then kill her and her family.
