With all due respect to Andy Roddick (and he's bound to get even more), all seems right in the tennis world again after Roger Federer's win on Sunday. He's back as the Wimbledon champion and back as the #1 ranked player. Other milestones or records he has broken and set so far this summer: 20th and 21st consecutive Grand Slam semifinal appearances (record), 5th and 6th consecutive Grand Slam final appearances, 20th career Grand Slam final appearance (record), 6th man to achieve the career Grand Slam, and 3rd man to win at least six Wimbledons (Sampras and Renshaw won seven). It should be noted that if it weren't for a trip-up in the 2008 Australian Open semifinals, he would be on a streak of 17 straight Grand Slam finals! Insane.

re: records broken, tough to say. we all thought sampras' total would stand a while, but at the same time, dimaggio's hit streak is still safe almost 70 years later. so, sure, they'll all be matched or broken, but when? in the next decade or the next century?

roddick? i'm afraid not. i want to be optimistic for him in thinking it'll line up for him again, but i think THIS was supposed to be one of those times; it obviously just didnt work out for him. he's just gotta have so much happen it seems to pull it off again. (so does anyone else not named federer or nadal, for that matter.) it's been said before, but he's just had the bad luck of playing in the same era as him/them.

Do you think these records will ever be broken?

And, on a slight tangent, do you have any renewed hope that Roddick will win a second major?
