Tennisopolis : Tennis Social Network

Hi there, I guess its time to start blogging.   I just want you to know that I am someone who has and does struggle with self confidence, so its really amazing to me that during my struggles, and through working out my struggles that the following has happened.

1.  I started coaching Tennis a game I nearly quit out of frustration on at least 10 occasions.    In my early 20s I went through a 3 year period where I played maybe 6 times.

2. In my second go around as a Tennis Coach, San Leandro High School won its first league title in 26 years in 1996. That happened in my second year.  We won again in 2000 and were consistently a threat to win it.   Sadly they have not been near the top since that time.

3. I became a Director of Tennis at Bay-O-Vista and the inside joke is that I was also a full time high school teacher. Normally, the title Directory is only given to someone who is a full time worker.    So I was part time director at Bay-O and lead the first year around junior program at the club in over 15 years.   Later, I had assistants, and it became a full time job.   I am proud of the fact I built something up for people to follow.

4.2004 becam a full time Tennis Profession in Union City - Led a decent program for 7 years!   Then needed to find something better. Logan High won some titles, with with Kirsten Pacis providing the thrust.
4a.  During that time, helped Kennedy High School boy's snap their 37 match league losing streak in my first year, and the girls 71 match losing streak, also in my first year.   The kids were featured on High School Sports Focus "Team in the Spotlight".
4b.  Found a replacement for the Kennedy kids, (turned out bad) : (     Moved to Mission San Jose.  Proclaimed one time "We will win an NCS Title, I don't know when, but we will do it".    Three seasons, two boy's season, one girl's season.  Swept singles, doubles, and team title all three seasons.    Teams upset two #2 seeded teams, and two #1 seeded team in NCS including two in one day to win the Title.   Came back from 3-1 down to Monte Vista, swept the doubles, and won #2 singles to win it.  Fun!

5. Started at ClubSport San Ramon March 1st, 2011.   How will the story continue?   I hope to see many great successes with our players who come and continue to build a strong sense of community within our membership.  Best new development is the hiring of Issa Cohen, who has really freed me  up to Direct programs, clinics, and organize the fun.

How is that?  TMI?
