Alize Cornet captured her first career WTA Tour singles title with a straight-set victory 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 over Slovenia's Andreja Klepac in the final of the Gaz de France Grand Prix.

Cornet finally won a tournament after losing twice in finals earlier this year. She lost to Flavia Pennetta in Acapulco in March and fell to Jelena Jankovic in Rome in May.

"I'm so happy to win today," said Cornet. "It's my first victory on the Tour, so it's very special. I've had great results on clay this season. I was just really happy to be able to compete so well in Budapest this week."

Klepac, who was playing her first final, said she was tired after a long week, but seemed satisfied with the result.

"With the points I get here, I will be in the top 100," Klepac said.
