Thank God It's Black Friday tennis this evening, anyone? The only black friday you get to play tennis for the next year, so gotta make it count I am a 3.5ish player, looking to hit for about 1.5 hours. Ideally want to start before 6 PM. Can play anywhere between Palo Alto and Santa Clara.Come on, let's do justice to the ex-turkeys! See More
Anyone knows if there's a bar (or similar establishment) in the bay area showing the nadal djokovic finals tomorrow? The match starts at 14:00 London time, which is 6 am our time, so it is pretty early ....Thanks.See More
Random things about me (hobbies, occupation, tennis history, favorite band, etc.):
I fell in love with Tennis when I watched Becker win Wimbledon as a 17 year old kid.
As for my own tennis career: I'm primarily looking to play long rally sessions or sets -- to work on making my groundstrokes more consistent, especially with topspin. I love to volley whenever possible as well, though there's some scope for improvement in my baseline-to-net transition :)
I think my upwardly mobile rating is currently somewhere north of 3.5. Need matches with players with solid ratings to confirm this I guess :) And I'm guessing I need only about 9,800 hours of solid practice before I crack the top 5 in the ATP :-)
Favorite pro tennis player(s):
Federer, Becker, Sampras, Henin
My tennis skill (please check your NTRP if you know it):
During the week, Andrew Spinas Park in Redwood City -- but I'm fine playing anywhere between Redwood City and SF really. Weekends -- probably the Dolores Park courts in the Mission area in SF, but I am yet to play there.
I think this Sat some of the regular players in the group are going to Carmel to play on clay courts, so I wasn't sure who was actually showing up. You should check with Chris or Semisi about it. Are you definitely going? I've been travelling a lot and wasn't sure how tired I'd be on Sat. I'll let you know what I decide on Friday.
