- TATIANA IS ALL ABOUT TENNIS:
Tatiana has heavily invested her time in intensive training for Tennis competition over the past 5 years. Training year-round both indoors and outdoors, she practices and plays 4-5 times a week or more by herself, with hitting partners, and with her coach. Her home club is Burnaby Tennis Club, she holds a booking card at Grant Connell Tennis Club in N. Vancouver, and she plays League Tennis for Murdo Frazer Tennis Club also based on the North Shore.
After a disappointing first year playing competitive tennis in 2009, Tatiana broke out and established herself as the #1 ranked player in the BC 4.0 NTRP rankings in 2010. Tatiana had another successful year in 2011, ranked #4 in the 4.5 NTRP after picking up 2 Singles wins, 1 Singles final, and 1 Doubles win at the Stanley Park Open. In 2012, she struggled with her consistency in the 5.0/Open level against the Juniors, ex-Juniors, and past and present Collegiate competitors. But in 2013, Tatiana returned to form: ranked #3 in 4.5 NTRP Singles with 1 title and 2 finals appearances, and also ranked #3 in 4.5 NTRP Doubles with a win at the Stanley Park Open (deja vu from 2011!). She is now considered a 5.0+ NTRP/Open player. She now prepares for the 2014 season in 5.0/Open Singles, as well as 4.5 Mixed Doubles.
Very competitive and athletic, Tatiana has mastered virtually all imaginable strokes: forehands, slice & top-spin backhands, volleys, drive-volleys, half-volleys, offensive & defensive lobs, moon balls, drop-shots, overhead smashes, and a variety of 1st and 2nd serves - including her renowned blistering flat serves (est. 100mph+), hard or wide slice serves, and Sam Stosur-like kick serves that jump like a 'roo! ;-) About the only shot she hasn't yet mastered is the 'Tweener ... but she's working on that shot too!
At the Roger's Cup in Montreal in Aug 2010, her fastest serve was clocked as high as 94mph (151kmh). In Aug 2011 at the VanOpen, Tatiana placed 2 of 3 serves in the service box at 91mph and 92mph with a slippery racquet during a fastest serve contest ... accomplishing both the Montreal and Vancouver 90mph+ speeds without even warming up! Tatiana has earned a reputation for her power (and temper) on the courts. With continual coaching, training, and practice, consistency and patience will become part of Tatiana's arsenal and All-Court game. Watch for her in regional NTRP tournaments in 2014!
