- I am Jane Sleeth & I have been playing tennis since the age of 7 and was ranked in Canada as a Junior & am still ranked as an adult. I accepted a tennis scholarship to New Mexico U but elected to go to University of Toronto for the academic program and to play on the varisty team. I play Masters events and tournaments still. Looking for players in the US esp. New York City and California so I can travel and enjoy the sport with others! I am a Registered Teaching Pro and also a Certified Physiotherapist

This small hop just before your opponent strikes the ball in effect tells your brain how to move once the ball has been struck - it tunes your brain into the muscles to instruct them as to when to move and in which direction and how fast.
This is a great illustration of how the brain talks to your muscles and eyes and tells them what to do and when!
