I've had a simple point and shoot Canon A85, but I want to step up. Although sports photography is not my passion, I'd like to be able to get a camera, Canon or Nikon with interchangeable lenses. With a crop factor (1.5x) your lens was ideal, being around 80 to almost 400mm, which is why it looks like you were standing right next to the two finalists.
