Hawaii is awesome!  Been three times now and will never get tired of it.  I was lucky to have been able to climb this legendary stairway in 2010 with a friend.  When I tried again this March with my daughters, the 24 hour guard prevented us from accessing the stairs, and I was told that no one goes up anymore.  Where/when did you go in  Hawaii?
