this group is about the development of Tennis in USA and Europe. Opinions about similarities and differences in training methods (traditional or modern), materials, sponsors ecc.
Cambatzu is it true the spanish and russians adopted a teaching method about 20 years ago that was designed by a guy named oscar wegner. This dude is in this country claiming that he did and that's why the USA is falling behind the rest of the world. You can find out for yourself , he has a group on here named after him. I was just wondering.
Hi Mark,
Good question. It is hard to say if Spain, Russia or other European Places generally adopted (widespread) Oscar Wegner´s tennis teaching techniques, I really dont know that, probably selectively.
Apparently 2009 marks the 20th anniversary of the publication of Oscar’s first book, TENNIS IN 2 HOURS. Citation www.tennisteacher.com:"In Russia, Moscow coaches adopted Oscar's book as their new ”Tennis Bible” in 1989, spreading it to their grassroots and precipitating a Russian player development that within a decade would astound the world."
Surely, new methods, teaching techniques ecc. (in this case from Oscar Wegner) improved European Tennis(play), but the same is true for the USA.
To sum up: Both, Europe and USA aint falling behind the rest of the Tennisworld :)
