Tennisopolis : Tennis Social Network

I love tennisopolis and have made some great tennis friends through here. Every few months I'll come on here, make a few new tennis dates, and then have some more good tennis buddies for it. Unfortunately about 1 out of every 3 people I make plans with through here stands me up when it comes time to meet.

I typically play 7-8AM at Plummer Park in WeHo. This morning was another morning where I pulled myself out of sleep, stretched, got warmed up and headed over there (about 1 mile - walking) to meet my partner. I waited until about 7:05 (since the courts fill up fast at 7AM) and called him.

In a friendly mood, he was embarrassed and apologetic. That's great and all, and I appreciate him not being a jerk or just letting it go to voicemail (that would have been even more typical.)

I left our tennis making plans on Sunday by saying 'No need to confirm, it's just 2 days away. Unless you need to call to change/cancel, I'll just meet you there at 7AM.'

Do I really need to be all 'LA' and call/text constantly to get people to keep their plans?

Please, people, write it down, put it in your Crapberrry, or your iPhone, or Google Calender (my fav) and make your appointments :-)

Signed, Slightly annoyed, but not quite pissed

I want to apologize to you again. I'm not the kind of guy who flakes and I'm terribly sorry that I so poorly represented this site and the LA tennis playing community by not showing up for our Tuesday game at 7:00 a.m. It is inexcusable and I hope that you don't give up on this site because of it - I've met some of my favorite new people on here and have had wonderful luck not having to endure what my poor organizational skills forced you to earlier this week. Connor, I'm sorry. Ryan

PS - Kathryn is a wonderful partner - is up early and will play you exactly at your level (be it a 1.0 or a 4.0).

Good luck
I understand, and am not super bummed on ya man. It's all good. Just needed to get that opinion out there, since it's happened a few times. If you want to try it again, just give me a call: 818 415 1918

i am glad this turned out happily! the same has happened to me, not through tennisopolis by through craigslist. and my running 'flake rate' was pushing 50%. the 50% who DID show made up for those that didn't, as i met some very nice hitting partners through CL. i hope to do the same on tennisopolis. i am in LA a couple of mornings/evenings per week, so i will message you in advance, in hopes of arranging a hit.
