Dear Gary Sakuma,

I've noticed your posted message "tournament preparation" and wanted to give you a few helpful tips that might work that you'll find useful in any scenario. Firstly, you have to assess your playing level and determine what division of competition your playing and track your results based on your performance four times a year or per quarter if you play a highly recommended twice a month schedule is needed to maintain competitiveness and ranking for sectional or national purposes. In all honesty, any good player or professional coach will tell you to develop a ritual that you can relate to that will enhance your concentration and focus levels at peak states of your competition. I would recommend that you take a real honest look at your game and find what your weaknesses are and really develop a strategy and game plan around that and track your results per tournament that you play in. This is usually the most direct and effective approach you can take in my professional opinion. If you need any other assistance, please let me know and if you'd like me to assess your game take a video clip of your game under stress conditions and post the results and I'll give you my review and feedback. Have a great tournament season and speak with you soon.

Sincerely,

Jason Lampione.
I'm sure you'll have your physical preparation taken care of, but I use to give myself time to mentally prepare. The day of take some time before the tourney to get your mind focused, usually some quiet time like 10 to 15 minutes helps defragment my mind and control your nerves until that first ball is hit. It's easy to drill and practice but you need the mental aspect to bring it all together.

Don't forget to have fun.
good one. man... mental prepping is also a skill, that needs to be practiced
