USTA Flex leagues- Florida-Collier/Lee/Charlotte/Sarasota/Manatee counties

A few comments regarding the USTA Flex leagues have been posted lately.  Hopefully this discussion can answer a few questions players may have.  General rules can be found at www.ustaflex.com .

Each area of the Flex league has it's own LTO(league tennis organizer) and rules pertaining too its area.

It is totally independent of regular USTA team leagues. It is a social competitive league that allows USTA members and non members to register and play in the same league. For now, it remains social and does not have a championship track. This allows for friendlier competition and a great way to meet new players, work on your game and conditioning on your schedule.

Players register for a league in their area, and are put in a flight of other registered players at their level selected. Registered players can not see who is registered until the flights are published on tennislink when the league begins. Flights with less than 4 registered players may remain open for registration a little longer or the players may have their option to move to a different division, transfer to the next league session, or withdraw for a full refund. Players have home and away match's. Any court surface is used, and match's are scheduled by the players to fit into their busy work, family schedule.  Tennis link provides a suggested schedule of 1 match a week, but players can play any opponent at any time. 1 match a day, 2 a day, 1 a month, just as long as you play all your opponents before the league end date. Leagues usually run 8-10 weeks.

I found my self getting stuck in the doubles rut after work. Needed to play more singles. The Flex league gave me that opportunity.  Love it!
