Summer Weekend Getaway at Stratton Mountain Resort with Legends of Tennis!

Stratton Mountain, Vermont – Stratton Mountain Resort, a premier destination rich in tennis history will host a weekend series called “Legends of Tennis Getaways” this summer, as announced by Scott Colebourne , Director of Tennis for the resort’s Drysdale Tennis School. The series will be held on four (4) weekends throughout the 2009 summer season: July 10-12, July 17-19, August 7-9, and September 4-6.

Tennis legends, Cliff Drysdale and Roy Emerson will instruct and host 15 hours of tennis throughout the weekend, act as guest commentators for the participants’ tournaments, and join guests for cocktail socials and meals. This VIP Tennis Experience is also available as a lodging package for a perfect summer getaway in the Green Mountains of Vermont.

“I'm delighted that we are able to bring “Legends of Tennis” to Stratton. To host this series of weekends at our resort will truly be a thrill for our members and guests alike,” states Colebourne.

Throughout Cliff Drysdale’s celebrated career, he netted 35 singles and 24 doubles titles. Another title he proudly held, off the courts, was that of founder and first President of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) where Drysdale went from making the shots - to calling them. He is the game's preeminent tennis announcer and his insightful tennis commentary makes him a popular personality on ABC Sports and ESPN, and on the pages of Tennis Magazine where he is a contributing writer.

Roy Emerson is the most prolific Grand Slam title holder in the history of tennis. No man even comes close to challenging the famed Australian’s astonishing record. With 28 Grand Slam Championship crowns, he is king of the tennis record books.

Ruling the courts with his mighty backhand, "Emmo" captured two singles and three doubles titles at Wimbledon. With five different partners, he won six consecutive doubles championships at the French Open to go along with two singles titles. And, he won two singles and four doubles titles from the U.S. Open. He remains the only male player to win singles and doubles titles at all four Grand Slam events.

Space is limited for these events, with rates starting at $295 per person. Call 1-800-STRATTON to reserve now!
