Event Description

FolkTime Tennis Pro-Am Players Needed!

The 2nd annual Pro-Am Tennis Tournament benefitting Folktime is underway! Twelve teams of doubles (3.0-4.0 man or woman) will face-off on the courts at Sunset Athletic Club on Sunday, May 31, 2009. We are inviting you to join us.

As a Pro-Am participant, you will get the rare opportunity to support your community and play alongside tennis professionals and champions. Pro/Am teams will play together for the entire tournament and each team will be auctioned to bidders; bidders will be rewarded with prizes at the end of the tournament. This day long event will also include: a vacation raffle, a catered brunch generously provided by Huber’s Restaurant, and an awards reception.

A few amateurs slots are still open—amateurs can sign up for $350. Amateurs and pros interested in playing should RSVP with Niren Lall, Tennis Director for Sunset Athletic Club: 503-645-6713 or download more information on our website: www.folktime.org.events.html.

Talented players already involved include Brian Joelson (Oregon Hall of Fame inductee, Top 125 in the World), Wayne Pickard (Men’s 40 and Over Singles and Doubles National Champion), and Mike Tammen (two-time National Men’s 35 and Over Singles Champion, former Number One in the Northwest).

Businesses are encouraged to invite pros and amateurs alike to compete; sponsors of participating players will receive two complimentary tickets to brunch and view. For additional donations/sponsorship opportunities (sponsorship of tables, supplying of items for gift baskets, etc.), please contact Folktime: 503-238-6428, or email info(at)folktime.org

All proceeds will go to Folktime, a non-profit serving adults living with mental illness in Portland and Clackamas. FolkTime services help these individuals break the cycle of hospitalization by providing a caring and supportive atmosphere in which to learn and grow. You can learn more about our program at www.folktime.org.

We hope you will join us in this worthwhile cause.

Sincerely,

Thomas E. Brady
