I am a former High School player and played a little bit after high school. I just want to get out and start hitting again and get some good sessions in with good sweat. I live in the Pinole-Hercules area and if I were to hazard a guess on my rating it would be anywhere from 3.0-3.5. Just want to have some good fun and a good workout.

that's a big rating for someone who played in high school!

LOL. I guess it was that long ago. I should say I haven't played consistently since high school and have been on and off since then.

I don't remember there being a rating system back then, but from doing research I gather around that range maybe even 2.5.

I'm a baseliner and not so great at the net. I know how to flat, slice and kick serve(though it has been a while). I use a two hand backhand and usually just try to hit heavy top spin and occasional slice.

huh? I'm sorry but I might have misunderstood something.. I thought varsity players usually ranged 4-4.5?

If that's the case I might need to readjust my rating then.. I never joined USTA so don't know exactly my rating..

I'm in a similar place. Played in high school and a bit after high school. I have no idea what my actual ranking is but 3-3.5 is my estimate (based on reviewing some random online site and its descriptions for those rankings/numbers -- not very official... :). If you're up for traveling to Oakland, I'm hoping to play in public courts close to home (Lake Merritt). I'm bored with the gym and would love to get a nice workout outdoors!
