My Racket, What's Yours??

I am continually interested in tennis rackets, strings and tensions of other players and the reasons why we make these choices.

Have been finding the Babolat below to have too much power and I am shortening my shots, reucing their effectiveness. So I went back to my Rebel, it is truly a great racket and Im much more comfortable. I hit the ball much harder with a full swing cos its such a lw powered racket.
Hurt my wrist yesterday doing volleying exercises for an hour with the weight of my racket being 360g

Ive gone and bought one, I like it so much, great racket. Ok I cant do touch shots quite as well as the Rebel but I spend most of my time at the baseline and Im playing with much stronger players now and the even balance and the stiffer Pure Drive Roddick is an absolute dream with loads of power and control. If you haven't demo'd it I think you'll be quite shocked at how easy it is to play with.

Bought what I thught was the upgrade to the Prince O3 white, the Speedport Pro White. I thought the spec suited me better and the closed string pattern would give me a little more control. So after customising it so that is was the same as the older O3 I took it out and it feels like a completely different racket. Its a great racket but the difference in the spin is considerable which is what I liked about the O3 except that it was far too light. Ive gone back to my beautiful Rebel, she just needed a restring and she was back to her beautiful best!
Its the best racket at the net Ive used and for a 95 headsize and 18x19 string pattern I get so much spin and feel especially on touch shots. I think its the best all round players racket around.
Although sometimes I wish I just played singles, stayed back at the baseline, never went to the net and blasted the ball with Bab's Pure Drive Roddick corner to corner!

I have the new Dunlop Aerogel 4D racquets in. I love the Dunlop Aerogel 4D 300 Tour, a new frame this year that fits nicely between the Aerogel 200 and Aerogel 300. A heavier, head light and 18/20 string pattern version of the Aerogel 300.

I also have been playing with the new Dunlop Aerogel 4D 200.

I am still waiting before I try my favorite, the Dunlop Aerogel 4D 500 Tour.

yes at 12 oclock gives most power but also makes it harder to swing
2 and 10 or 3 and 9 make it steadier and gives it more power
play around

i play with a yonex rds 001.
its pretty good but it takes a while to get used to the shape.
i am thinking about adding lead tape to it also.
is lead tape a good idea to add if i want more power from my racket?

Ive been playing with the prince rebel for a couple of months and its a great racket and as Ive improved and moved up a grade or two Ive been meeting much better players. I recently picked up a friends speedport pro white and found how much more consistent I was and how easy it was..............so Ive bought one!!
I noticed I made a comment about not liking the speedports (below) but that was a cosmetic opinion. Im not bothered about that now that Im playing better than ever!
Ive recently changed my Poly string to the Bab PH Tour softened with Tec x1 biphase. With the bigger headed racket and spin of the prince Im not hitting the net so much, I can hit it so much higher over the net at the same pace as before. Happy days....

Hofertennis I sell Prince quite a bit, and they are great racquets, but you're right about the oports... they don't add or subtract anything to/from a swing.

The newest pieces though (Rebels and Graphites) are amazing racquets, despite the gimmicks.

The Exo Rebel Tour I espeically like because it's challenging and forces you to use good technique.

Yeah I agree.
i am still trying to find my ideal balance and weight, strings and tension, I suppose like everyone.
Weight is sorted (about 250g)
Balance (added lead to 9 and 3) about 5/6pts head light.
Flex- low to mid 60's
Grip size 3 with 1 overgrip.
Main string Lixilon BB Alu rough
Cross string- Tecnifibre X 1 Biphase or Gamma Libe Wire Pro
Tension at mo with this racket 56lbs but needs to go up to 58/60lbs I think.
My excitement with this new racket is that it hits all those points above I think any other racket that did that I would be happy. The Wilson I have is the best racket Ive played with, absolutely solid. The Fischer has something about it, pure class. But one is too powerful and one is not at all. The Rebel seems to lean towards the Fischer with a little more pop.
Actually I think the Aerogel 200 is around my spec but havent tried it out......
