I moved to Portland last July, and I haven't had any luck meeting fellow players!  I played in high school, and I would say I'm in the 3.5-4.0 range.  My schedule varies, but I'm usually free on the weedends, and have certain evenings free during the week.  I'm looking for somebody to hit with and have some friendly competition.  I live in SE in the 30th and Belmont area, near a couple public courts.  If you're interested, hit me up on here, or call/text me at 503-481-0655.  -Pat

what;s your competition experience like in USTA sanctioned events? if you only played high school without any college competition then it would be hard to justify your rating. most who only played high school would be pushing 3.5 but they are at the 3.0 level unless you played a lot of high level jr tournaments. you need to go to PTC and join the weekly mixers. pay if you have to so you can meet players and get back on track.

not to put you down or anything but i'm just saying what based on my experience. you will not have probelms at the 3.0-3.5 range but when you get to the upper level which is anything 4.0 and over you will need to hit the racket clubs to find them.

The majority of my competitive experience certainly comes from my high school days.  I'll admit that 4.0 is definitely near the top of my game.  When I'm playing the most and in peak shape, I believe I can play up to that level.  I haven't had much opportunity to play this past year though, so I'm certainly rusty, probably in the 3.0-3.5 range.  I'm mainly just wanting to meet people to hit with casually to shake the rust off.  After that, I would definitely be interested in getting back into competition.

most of the 4.0 players i personally know when i was still there have played at the college level anywhere from division 1 to division 3. most of the d3 women are legit 4.0 level players . most of the mid level ranked jrs are at the 4.0-4.5 level. a lot of the teaching pros are at the minimum high 4.0 level players. players tend to overrate themselves from ,5 to a full rating point over what they really are. there are a few 4.0+ level players on this site who i do know personally, have played with and i can tell you they are legit 4.0+ players. you should go to st johns on sunday night and play the 4.0 mixer there. see if you can hang with them and you can then determine if you are a legit 4.0 level player. friday night at around 6 there is a mixer, 3.5 + level @ PTC. you will need to call early becuase there is a 12 player limit. those are two places you can go to meet players. these are the first places to start looking if you want to get serious after a long layoff.
