Who does Oudin mean by “some people”?

Italy v USA - Fed Cup World Group Final Day Two
The US just lost the Fed Cup title to Italy. The US would more than likely have won the Fed Cup title if either of the Williams sisters had played. The US would definitely have won the Fed Cup title if both of the sisters had played. The US needs the Williams sisters. That is the plain truth.

good points and thanks for commenting. but i never ever count out Serena. agree that Schiavone is on a hot streak but so too is Pennetta. but i favor Serena against either of these opponents, assuming that she had had the time to practice on clay. when i watched Oudin fall fall at the end of the very first rally i knew we were in trouble. she was not ready for clay. it's still very new for her. it isn't for Serena. we actually need more Serenas on the team. i love Oudin but she is not my idea of an effective force multiplier.

Actually I'm not so sure that the Serena (the in form, non injured Williams) would have been able to do much. They played on really slow clay (recall Serena's first round defeats in Rome, Madrid, although she did make QF in Paris), and Schiavone was coming off a great streak from her win at the Kremlin open. Serena may have been able to overpower Pennetta but I think Schiavone would've had her number in the reverse singles. I think the US went into it for the experience, that will hopefully allow them to win the Fed cup in the next few years. All we need are a few more Oudin's
