Gasquet's Coke Problem Due to French Kissing!

In yet another ''only in Miami'' story, French tennis player Richard Gasquet had his two-year drug ban lifted Wednesday after only two months because an international tribunal ruled that he had inadvertently ingested cocaine while kissing a woman he didn't know at South Beach nightclub SET during the Sony Ericsson Open in late March.

Gasquet, ranked No. 23, had withdrawn from the tournament with a shoulder injury on March 28, partied at SET and then visited downtown strip club Goldrush with friends. He claimed he hooked up with a woman named ''Pamela,'' whom he kissed seven times between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m., and that is how the small amount of cocaine entered his system.

The tribunal, which met in London, bought the story. ''His denial was convincing and, in our judgment, completely truthful,'' they wrote.

``We conclude . . . more likely than not that the cocaine detected in the player's urine sample entered by means of Pamela's kissing in the period between from about 2 a.m. to 5 a.m. that morning. If the cocaine had been ingested earlier, the quantity was so small and the half-life of the drug is so short, it would have been undetectable in the player's urine.''

Gasquet rocks! Awesome backhand. And his story, while perhaps implausible may in fact be true. If there is sufficient doubt as to his guilt (which I definatlely believe there is) then the decision to cancel the suspension is a great one.

(LOL at Richard's version-that's possible too!)

I don't even see any evidence that points to cocaine having performance-enhancing effects. I'll be watching in anticipation as his crazed fans cheer him on. Ah, such energy and poise!

Oui! Oui! Mon ami! Rec drugs should not have the same penalties as PEDs. Although it drags the sport through the gutter (see late 70's NBA) it does not make a mockery of the sport as PEDs do. Look at baseball, its just sick, these bums today hurt the sport so much more than Strawberry, Doc Gooden and Steve Howe ever did.

I think we should start a poll as to whether recreational drugs should be treated withe the same penalties that performance enhancing drugs are.

haha he kissed her 7 times exactly in 3 hrs, probably as he made his way between the rest of the cast of Baywatch!
Its maybe true but more likely he got smashed out of his brain, slept with 3 strippers and snorted a couple of lines off their buttocks, woke up in the bath with his tennis racket in a precarious place. Normal night out for the french flaneur.
Probably couldnt say that to the investigative panel though.
Im happy that its come to this conclusion and im not advocating the taking of recreational drugs but sometimes we all do something silly whilst partaking in the amber nectar.
