Looking for folks in a similar boat, near downtown, played before but looking to get back into it (I also played varsity in HS). Just got a new pair of rackets and am kind of getting in "tennis mode" for upcoming spring/summer after a long time off. I usually play at Laurelhurst, Tennis Ctr. (NE 12th), or Mt. Tabor - but I can go to westside too. I like the courts near Japanese Gardens but they seem to always be packed. Let me know if interested, which days/time work for you? (assuming weather is OK) Thx, Gabe
I live close in SE in the Hawthorne area. If you would like to practice or play a set or maybe sometime mixed doubles let me know. The Portland Tennis Center is a great place to play or take lessons all year round for a good price. They also have double mixers. By the way this weekend is the Nike Oregon Tennis Championship at Tualatin Hill Recreation Center. The finals are this Sunday morning. Top level college players and teaching pros enter from Canada and the northwest. You can watch for free in close in seats in a new outside tennis arena.
I am currently up in Vancouver but looking to move into the downtown area. I moved here from Ohio last fall and I have not played since the move. Do you know a good place downtown to play? If we get a nice day here this weekend would you like to get out?
I am probably a 3.0 to 3.5 with occasional inexplicable bursts of being better than that. I live north of Vancouver (great view, it is worth the drive), and work in downtown Portland. On days I stay at a friend's place in the city, I would be available on weekday mornings, real early or even up to the mid-morn. I also often stay in town Friday night, so Saturday morning would also work.
Otherwise, I work kind of late, so if you were into starting at say 7 or 8 PM under the lights (I know of a few places to do that not far from downtown) that would work.
If your "young and fun" comment means that you are looking for datable male type tennis partners, I am probably not your guy. I am a guy, and I am quite fun as well, but not in your demographic (meaning that I am older). But I would be pleased to hit the ball with you as you get back in the swing.
Hi Keri! It's great to have you here!
I see you already joined a Group – fantastic - introduce yourself in there to meet people for matches.
If you need any help, let me know. Invite your buddies.

We are all very excited to have created this "community-based" tennis website which puts the focus on the members.
To get started, pleaseupload a photo or avatar for yourself (if you haven’t already.) Whether it's of you, your dog, your racquet it doesn't matter, but it helps people remember you. You can also personalize Your Page with pictures, links, RSS feeds, colors and more here.
If you are looking to meet people for tennis matches, Join the group in your area and introduce yourself in there. Some groups have regular meeting times and some are more one-on-one and flexible. If there’s no group in your area yet, start a group page for your town and invite your tennis contacts. It's a good place to keep in touch with everyone in your circle.
Tennisopolis is also a great place to network with people all across the country and talk about this game we love.
Other places to explore: come talk tennis in the forum, add your own photos, post your own blog entries.
