Hey Sam, i just downloaded a video on my page. an 11 year old girl using a 25 year old racquet. watch her backhand, she uses a closed stance to get more torque. she does use an open stance on her forehand....
Hey , i forgot one thing, with the closed stance your more likely to move forward and thats a good thing. I have seen with the open stance cause players to lean backwards. The open stance may be modern but not better. just my opinion.

Hey Sam, the closed stance is the best. you get more torque. Modern players dont compare to the ones of the 1980's and early 1990's. Watch some of Lendl's videos on You tube. As far as the two handed backhand, Agassi had a nice one. Try to go with the smallest head size, it will force you to watch the ball. Players with the large head racquets have tons of mishits as they get lazy and stop watching the ball. Oh, by the way, good luck with your high school tennis!
