Tennisopolis : Tennis Social Network

Okay, well...I'm going to start out by saying I really don't care if anyone reads this blog. This is more for my own personal development as a competitive tennis player. I've tried blogs in the past and I got more caught up in the promotion and the desire to have people read and comment on it than actually caring about what I post.

Anyways, I'm Andy. I'm 32. I'm a father of 2 and married. I'm a Systems Admin for a large company in Richardson, TX. I have a real hard time trying to balance playing tennis, professional, and personal life. I'm doing the best I can though.

17 months ago I decided to get off my fat ass and get in shape. I decided to start running, playing tennis again, and become active. Since then, I've lost ~75-80lbs, kept it off, and my life has changed drastically. My goal now is to be in the top 10 of the NTRP 3.5 in TX this year. I know I'm sand-bagging. I've played 4.0 leagues at the McKinney Tennis Center and gone undefeated. TBH, the people in the league might not have been 4.0 calibre, but whatever. Regardless, I lost in the quarterfinals of the area zone in San Antonio and I've had more than a handful good 3-set matches in tournaments, so I know I'm not the only one sand-bagging.

Me winning my first tournament after 15 years off.

I'm having a difficult time trying to balance it all. I've decided that I need more court-time instead of gym-time. I'm trying a few pickup-drill sessions at different tennis centers with various results. I'm also trying to find hitting partners in and around my work. Lastly, I'm doing serve practice and whatnot in the ghetto court in the apartment complex across from my office.

It's covered with gravel, broken glass and trash...but it's got a net and lines.

So yeah. That's me in a nutshell. More to come, perhaps. We shall see.
