Last Tuesday, The NCAA team championship wrapped up with USC winning the men’s title for the 4th straighttime beating Virginia in a match that ended at nearly 1 am.
The match could have gone either way. In fact, the clinching match was decided by a…
Looking forward to attending my first tournament in a long time! I think the last tournament I watched was a satellite tournament when I was a junior. The winner (David Wheaton) got to play against Agassi; man that was a long time ago, like 1990?! If you're in NC or coming to watch, come say HI, as I will be volunteering as a ticket taker for a couple of days. Isner, Monfils,…

In my previous blog entry I stated my plan for my return to competitive tennis. Well this is how it went down...
First Match:
My internet scouting did seem accurate as my opponent appeared to lack the consistency of a top level 3.5 player but he did have solid technique that would warrant a move up from 3.0. In the first set I extended…

Making my return to USTA competitive tennis tonight. I'm playing a 3.5 singles tournament. I've had little practice so I'm not expecting much in the tournament. I lucked out with my 1st opponent who appears to be a top level 3.0 who is starting to play up. My opponent played this event last year and ate a double bagel in his 1st match. I hope to keep that tradition going for him. If I beat him I meet the 4th seed who got a bye. Both matches will take place tonight.
The plan…

Lots of anticipation leading into the US Open and all eyes are glued on World No.1 Novak Djokovic, the man that can do no wrong or at least can only win. Rafael Nadal had a handful against the French qualifier but tomorrow will need more to beat a top 10 player such as Fernando Verdasco even though he has a perfect 11-0 record against him. Novak should have an easier day as he faces a qualifier but this qualifier has been in the top ten himself so Novak better not count out Radak Stepanek…

I am conflicted regarding this tournament that is being held in Hamburg this week. Tennis betting or sports betting in general is ILLEGAL in the United States, but an ATP tournament in Germany is underwritten by an online sports betting company from Austria? First off I do not gamble on tennis or any sport so I find it a little disturbing that we are sending such conflicting signals to our children. Is it not true that the prize money comes from the sponsors and the sponsor is an online…

This year, one of the oldest tennis tournaments in America is holding their 119th annual event, The Pacific Northwest Tennis Championships. But this year, the long-running tournamet, played at the Tacoma Lawn Tennis Club, is enlisting a new graphic design format to develop its logo: the logo contest. Logo contest sites are popping up en masse on the internet trying to mimic the incredible success of…
