The Olympics, vs. Fed Cup/Davis Cup

Bethanie Mattek-Sands of the USA

Some time ago I started a series on some of the changes I would like to see in tennis. Some would say that my ideas were fueled more by idealism than by practicality. And even I have to admit that today’s suggestion certainly falls more within the realm of dreamland. Stosur waves after advancing to finals at Family Circle Cup Tennis in Charleston

I bailed on Family Circle Cup this weekend. I just wasn’t in the mood to drive that distance to watch the lesser members of the WTA Tour. Ouch that was harsh. Who does Oudin mean by “some people”?

Italy v USA - Fed Cup World Group Final Day Two

The US just lost the Fed Cup title to Italy. The US would more than likely have won the Fed Cup title if either of the Williams sisters had played. The US would definitely have won the Fed Cup title if both of the sisters had played. The US needs the Williams sisters. That is the plain truth.

Early musings: Family Circle Cup 2010

Oudin Out At Family Circle Cup

...But the reason I have the Family Circle Cup on my mind is because I read recently that Melanie Oudin has already committed to enter. That and the fact the Family Circle folks called this week to ask me if I wanted to renew my seats. I have to admit that I am kind of torn.

On the one hand you know how committed I am to supporting tennis. And… Continue
