Can't find reliable information about CBD products anywhere? It used to be hard to get reliable information about this exciting new natural herb/drug. Not anymore. Thanks to CFAH, CBD news can now be found by anyone who cares to read it.

You might be wondering, are all of these CFAH CBD review Websites selling products? Not just a few, not even all of them. There are actually dozens of websites that are nothing more than sales pitches for CBD supplements. But, not all of those sites are part of a concerted marketing effort. Many are independent entities run by ordinary people who want to help consumers make better-informed decisions.

So, how do you know which CFAH CBD reviews are real, legitimate, peer-reviewed reviews and which are sales pitches? One way is to look for actual consumers posting positive reviews. Unfortunately, most CBD review websites don't have any form of editorial board or reviewers. Instead, they are operated by a few people working out of their own homes who have personal relationships with CBD supplements.

Because there are so few expert reviewers on the Internet, many parents are leery of what reviews can really tell them. Some websites actually have sales pitches and advertisements disguised as reviews. While CFAH offers honest, objective reviews, some product promoters try to use the "expert" label to promote their products. It's important for parents to understand this, especially when selecting CBD products.

If you see a CFAH review website that contains only sales pitches or testimonials from the company itself, stay well away. Those are not real reviews. They are marketing tools used by the promoter in order to get more customers. The CFAH website is designed to help parents make an informed decisions. There are no products or programs profited from the information provided on the CFAH websites.

There are also other websites that may be deceptive in terms of promoting certain products. Some websites may disguise themselves as CFAH sites in order to give parents misleading information about a certain product. For example, there is CFAH sites that will tell consumers that a certain supplement is endorsed by prominent health organizations such as The American Heart Association or The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention when it is in fact made by a small company. Or, there are CFAH sites that will mention selling point-of-the-day products when those are actually vending machines that only accept one or two credit cards. Stay away from these kinds of sites.
How to Get Better at Tennis This Summertag:tennisopolis.com,2018-06-21:1869403:BlogPost:12563372018-06-21T12:54:08.000ZJeremy Barneshttp://tennisopolis.com/profile/JeremyBarnes

There are plenty of reasons to be excited about the upcoming summer season – garden parties and BBQs, sunshine and beach fun, flip flops and bikinis and, of course, outdoor tennis. After spending the winter season playing indoors at our local tennis clubs, we are all bursting to get back out under the clear blue skies on the outdoor tennis court. There’s simply nothing better than a day of playing tennis while the sun tickles your face and tans your body. A lot of people find their game slacking during the winter period, indoor tennis courts just aren’t as motivating than the outdoor experience. Hence, you’ll find a lot of players looking for ways to improve the game as they head back into the summer season. Here are three tips to help you improve your tennis game!

Use Every Chance You Get to Play

To practise your game, you don’t necessarily have to play with your regular partners all the time. In fact, playing with different people on a regular basis will work out to your advantage as you will be introduced to various playing styles – from amateur to professional. Playing against someone who is more experienced than you is obviously the best challenge you can set yourself, but there’s a lot to learn from amateurs and even kids too – patience being a big factor here! Next time you find the kiddos bored at a BBQ party, grab your rackets and take them out to play a friendly game of two against one; this way the kids will run off their energy and you can practise your moves in a relaxed atmosphere.

Use Other Sports to Your Benefit

Tennis might be your passion but there are other sports and exercises you can practise that could prove beneficial to your tennis game. Instead of driving to your next match, consider biking or jogging to the club ahead of time to warm up your muscles – just be sure to go easy on yourself, you wouldn’t want to exhaust yourself before stepping out onto the court. Aerobics, pilates and yoga exercises will help you stretch and tone your muscles, so carving out some time to get down into your dog before your next game will improve your stamina and reduce the risk of injuries. Adding these practises to your regular tennis schedule will do a lot to improve your game.

Read Up On the Game

Practice makes perfect but reading advice is also key to improving your game. TR Central is a great blog for reading tips and advice for playing and practicing tennis. They have lot’s of helpful articles on different shots and how to train properly.

Film Your Next Game

Many professional athletes and sportspeople improve their game by filming their practise sessions. There may be things you’re doing to affect your game negatively that you aren’t even aware of while you’re playing. By filming your practise sessions, you’re granting yourself the opportunity to look back at your game and study your shortcomings. It will make you more aware of your movements, back and forehands, and you will have the chance to review where there is room for improvement before you next hit the court.

Play Under Pressure

Yes, it’s true, technically we should all be playing for the love of the game but sometimes, there’s no better motivator than a prize. Regardless of your current level, sign yourself up for a competition game. See the LTA website. The running up to the big match day will motivate you to keep up a regular routine and play your best game in preparation. Once you hit the courts and find yourself in a true pressure situation where only one can win, you will feel a shift in attitude – suddenly you’re only burning desire is to win the game and you’ll find yourself playing with a new level of awareness and ambition that will get you that trophy!
American Culture And Its Effects On Producing World-Class Tennis Playerstag:tennisopolis.com,2017-11-09:1869403:BlogPost:12511572017-11-09T19:00:00.000ZAlekseyhttp://tennisopolis.com/profile/Aleksey

I’ve played and coached is many countries around the world and I can tell you that the junior tennis culture in US is very different from the rest of them. It seems like technology is taking a firm hold of this upcoming generation and it seems like their attention span is ever decreasing and their respect for the elders and hard work slowly deteriorates. There is a quite widespread “fast-food” and entitlement mindset that I’m noticing around. A lot of kids expect immediate results without putting hardly any hard work into it. They expect a few correct swings to overshadow thousands of the wrong ones they took in the past. Nevermind that I just explained to them that all professional players are doing that way. Nevermind that I just hit an few absolute cannons right in front of them. None of that matters to them. Compare that to a kid somewhere in Colombia who probably doesn’t go to school that much and trains hard all day just to get out of the county and to make a better life for himself and his family by playing tennis. I was that kid and I know what it takes to do that. One has to have an absolute “balls to the wall” (no pun intended) mindset to succeed in this sport. What matters most and what drives a lot of American kids today is an instant gratification and their immediate success in their performance or in competition with their peers. After all, that’s how they beat other players in their tournaments, they don’t see beyond that. Very few are willing to lay down their pride for the sake of future victories, that’s just not the way most of them are wired today.

You see that with the parents as well. Virtually all are looking for their kids to hit with the best kids in town like that alone would get their kid to the next level. If it was that easy there will be a lot more professional tennis players in the US! If that’s the right mindset, then number one player in the world couldn’t get any better because there is nobody is better than him/her. Interesting fact is Roger Federer frequently trains with junior players in the off-season and somehow still manages to get better. Interesting isn’t it? That’s because he knows what he is working on and they are good enough players for him to practice that with. If Roger can do it, everybody can and should do it. What’s needed is specific training designed to eliminate all technical flaws, that’s number one. Then know the game well enough to understand what to do in any particular situation be it offence or defense and knowing different kinds of players and their strengths and weaknesses. Then you will need to combine those two factors by hitting from more difficult situations and still properly place your shots in the most difficult for the opponent areas. Sure, it’s nice and even beneficial to hit with better kids every now and then, but is it the most important? No, it’s not. Hitting with the best will only magnify the technical errors that already exist. To actually fix them would be nearly impossible in that kind environment where there is more pressure and less time to think about what you are doing. This “my child has to hit with the best” mindset is epidemic and it’s being passed down to the kids who are now obsessed with whom they are hitting and what their ranking is and not with what their arm is going on their forehand backswing or what footwork pattern they are using. In parents and kids in America today I see very few thoughts that are directed to what would happen when they get a little older (17-18 years old) when the game that’s played and requirements for being a great player drastically change. It’s a very shortsighted approach that is fatal on a large scale because valuable time is lost, the time that is used by others somewhere in Russia to get to automatic level of proper technique. Guess who will have an edge when the two meet in a tournament later on?
Finding The Best Tennis Ball Makertag:tennisopolis.com,2017-08-26:1869403:BlogPost:12494812017-08-26T11:32:10.000ZJerryhttp://tennisopolis.com/profile/tennisracquetcenter

Tennis Spin is unquestionably the best value when aiming to buy tennis ball machine. This item is valued very reasonably at around $230, making it the most budget-friendly tennis ball machine offered without a doubt. Regardless of being the lowest priced tennis device, the Tennis Spin is additionally really light and battery ran, making it very portable and also it will certainly suit the backseat of any kind of SUV. The Tennis Twist additionally supplies tennis rounds at a continuous rate giving excellent repeating that will make a practice session useful. Whether you want to exercise your backhand or simply need a person to have fun with, this tennis device will make you far better at tennis. As well as since a tennis device does not mess up, you don't have to bother with poor hits while practicing. You get to hit a constant shot practicing your kind for 28 reps in order to help structure your muscle mass as well as develop your psychological discipline.

Distinct Features of The Tennis Spin

Tennis Tutor wished to design a light-weight equipment as well as they were seeking to create a cheap tennis round maker that would give standard attributes that would permit any kind of ability degree, standard to intermediate to innovative, to obtain a superb and reliable experience. The distinctive spiral layout immediately feeds the 28 tennis balls. The ball machine after that lobs out a ball every 5 secs providing you time to take the shot, examine it, as well as recuperate in time for the following ball. The very best means to use the unit is to place it at numerous spots based upon the style of shot you desire. Since the tennis system doesn't have any oscillation functions, the only ways of altering the shot is to alter the position. You'll additionally intend to place the Tennis Spin on the exact same side of the internet due to the fact that it just shoots regarding 10 feet or two. Although if you intend to exercise the overhanging knockout you'll need to put it on the opposite side of the web.

These are just a couple of examples of what makes this tennis machine different from various other tennis makers. To obtain a better look at just how the tennis equipment jobs and some fringe benefits (as well as some weak points) you'll intend to have a look at a Tennis Spin review.

Comparing The Tennis Twist

The Tennis Spin is the best worth for the money when it concerns tennis machines, yet just how does it as compare to other, more expensive devices? One preferred brand name of tennis ball maker is the Lobster Elite line. Simply looking at the most affordable lobster tennis round device, you would spend $850 which is virtually 4 times as high as the Tennis Spin. Is it worth four times more? The Lobster Elite Liberty, which is the affordable tennis ball machine, has flexible speeds, a higher round capacity, and a great horizontal oscillation feature that will certainly alternating the shots around the court. The rate change attribute is practical since it allows you to hit the sphere faster; nevertheless, the trick to a good method is strong type as well as hitting more rounds doesn't necessarily make you better. Regarding the receptacle capacity goes, the unit supplies a 2 minute rally and unless you are in wonderful physical form, 2 minutes is an excellent exercise. And with the Lobster's oscillation function, it could be good technique running to each side of the court, however you can efficiently do the very same thing with the Tennis Spin with some imagination. For an additional $630 you get some good attributes, but not truly essential.

Another prominent round maker is the main Tennis Tutor model. This system costs around $950 as well as is virtually the same as the Lobster Elite Flexibility when it concerns functions. So when reviewing the Tennis Spin against the Tennis Tutor sphere machine, you conserve near to $700. Don't obtain me wrong, these pricey tennis sphere makers do have their place. If you are a competitive gamer or an instructor, many of these versions will have beneficial functions, yet if you require an affordable tennis sphere device in order to help you improve at tennis, there is no much better value.
Mastering The Mental Gametag:tennisopolis.com,2017-06-26:1869403:BlogPost:12471912017-06-26T00:00:46.000Zthomas danielshttp://tennisopolis.com/profile/thomasdaniels310

I was thinking about this exact title yesterday.

How can players start mastering how, to play the mental game.

Because that is the only game, that is being played in competition.

It is also a topic that....many coaches mention to their players about, but then don't spend enough time teaching it to them.

I can't give you the whole concept here in this post.

But,I will give you an outline of it and then you can get the rest,on the right hand side of this page.

IYFT is learning how to play and how to master playing the mental game.

Champions have done very little with their hands.

No,true Champions build with their minds!!!

If tennis players were better mental builders, they would be masters of the mental game

Focus on little mental achievements and let them build on each other.

Then once you get the momentum flowing, don't rock the boat.

Keep learning from your feedback.

Create and play yourself into your own vision, while at the same time, thinking yourself into it.

"This is the key to mastering the mental game."

Listen.

Your mental attitude towards what you are working on and your intelligence effort to reach it,will decide your mental attainment.

The key word there is intelligence.

Always be aware of what is working and what is not working for YOU.

And for christ sake.

Don't keep making the same mental mistake over and over again in your matches!!!

By following that outline, you will get the mental habits into your consciousness and things will start clicking.

That is just a preview of this mental concept and warrior playing philosophy.

Go get the detail, in the "IYFT" home study course.

You get 3 ebooks and the audio version of "Mastering The Mental Game".

This is a must home study course, for all serious competitive tennis players!!

If anybody cared the last three matches went like this... I won a real lights out battle in the impending darkness at the Northwestern University outdoor courts. To quote the Ljubman, "spend some Euros and get some lights!" That match was on a sweltering hot Friday evening. On a cold gray Sunday morning I lost a real rock'em sock'em battle with a guy who I have always had big hitting wars. Fast forward to the next week to face my retriever nemesis and clearly was not ready to suffer as he took me out in two easy sets. Summer and Fall went by with no singles play as family life to a toll on the flex league singles play.

I've finally taken a step outside of the mixed doubles toybox and joined a 4.0 men's team. That team plays out of the NU indoor courts. My first 4.0 match was a singles match outside on clay. Even though everything was against me I was ahead in both sets only to choke them both away. I was feeling down about myself as I lost the deciding match to give the other club a 3-2 win. I got a chance at redemption on Halloween as they stuck me on #3 doubles in a match again the 1st place team in the league. Once again it came down to my match to see with team would take the whole thing, Even though it was a 4.0 match it was more of a 7.5 combo match as both sides sent out 4.0 and 3.5 pairing. It was very even affair as both teams held serve until 3-4. We were broken and they served for the set at 5-3. We broke back, I held (even though they had 3 set points in the process) , broke again, and we held to close out the set. We broke the first game of the second set only for me to give it back on a sloppy service game. We stayed neck and neck until my heavy forehands and my partners ability to cover the net provided the go-ahead break in the 4-4 game. I was able to serve it out on the third match point.

The common thread between NU and the snooty club where I lost on the clay is that they both have Playsight. Playsight is a data recording system that allows you to analyze your matches and practice sessions. For doubles right now it is mainly video and on court line calls. However for singles you can get speed and spin data player movement etc... The only problem is that the upscale club club does not have the system on the outdoor courts so I don't have anything to show you from my singles match. However if you would like to look at my doubles match check out this link. You can tell me if I just spin tall tales in my posts or if they are somewhat close to reality. After looking at myself on this video and another mixed video I have realized I must be aggressive in my game I cannot try to play within myself and expect to win at the 4.0 8.0&7.5 mixed levels.I am thinking of starting a playsight group on TO where we can share our links and check each other's games out. That is assuming I'm not the only one that has access to the technology.

After over 25 years being involved in tennis, playing, leagues, over 10 yrs working US Open, finally decided to start a tennis class, not about playing but about understanding what this game is all about. Rules, scoring, procedure, players etc etc it's a lot to understand. Many people will never want to or be able to play because of disabilities or just not physically active. This class is for them. It's also for tennis virgins just getting into the game, newbies who decided to pick the game up or anyone who has no one to explain the game to them. People play everyday and don't know little things about Tennis like linespeople's duties or scoring team tennis or even what the Fed Cup is all about. So join me if interested or have the time or around on Oct. 13 from 6:30-8pm on Manhattan's UWS in the 90's for a discussion, Q and A time about Tennis. Call/text 646-241-1633 or e mail me: gmoorman71@gmail.com to register. A small fee will be collected at door for electricity of the room microwave and lights. Free tennis mags and handouts will be given. Small snack or meals may be brought in. Bathroom facilities available. Wheelchair accessible.
You could have fit my confidence into a thimble at 15. I was 60 pounds overweight, shy, and the only time I sweat was when the Chargers were losing on Sunday. If you’ve ever been overweight, you know how this feels. My idea of exercise was curling a Twinkie to my mouth while using my thumbs to defeat my friends in Street Fighter.

I had strong thumbs!

Then one day, I got a call from a friend that changed my life.

“Hey, want to go play some tennis?”

I had always loved watching sports because my dad did, and that’s how we bonded. At 16, I remember watching a match on tv between Pete Sampras (one of my heroes) and Andre Agassi. The power and incredible precision that Pete had on his serve was poetry in motion, and Andre’s ability to dictate points from the baseline was incredible. These two were fearless competitors. Besides that, watching the hypnotic exchange of beautfiful strokes put me in a trance that I wanted to stay in. However, all of my negative self talk and limiting beliefs about myself discouraged me from going out that day. I was worried what others would think about me, and if I would be able to hit more than two balls without passing out.

“Maybe tomorrow.”

When Josh called the next day, I realized that I had to do it. When I went out to the courts that day, I discovered an activity that was not only fun, but it was something I could see myself loving for a long time.

I loved playing tennis with my best friends every day. Besides the camaraderie, I slowly began to feel stronger mentally and physically (and it was fun). I became obsessed with tennis and played every single day that summer. It was so cathartic to whack that green ball of fuzz across the court over and over again. Every time I hit the ball, I gained confidence. Of course, being with a bunch of teenagers, we were constantly dousing each other with cups of water at changeovers. I still owe John one or two dousings. There’s no better way to bond with friends than through sports, especially since I knew I was going to whip them that day. Three hours would go by, I’d be drenched in sweat and high on endorphins and all I could think about was when we would meet to play tomorrow.

After a summer of this, I could hit the ball well, and compete. So the next spring, I went out for my high school tennis team thinking it would be fun to play in a group. I had been practicing all summer with my friends, so I made varsity. On top of that, our number one doubles team was split into singles for the county championships tournament, and my partner and I won the entire league.

I had my first taste of an athletic accolade, and it was delicious! I wanted to go back for seconds.

As I stood looking in the mirror that afternoon, it dawned on me. Since that last twinkie before Josh called, I had lost 40 pounds. I no longer wanted to eat junk food because I had discovered that I didn’t have the same energy level that I did when I ate healthy, whole foods. I carried myself much differently because I had authentic confidence in myself as a person, and as an athlete. I even had a few girls checking me out which NEVER happened before. But maybe most importantly, I had discovered a burning passion that had been missing for the first 15 years of my life!

I went to UCSD and got my B.A. in violin performance. I guess I had a way with strings. Then I went on to Cal State Northridge for my M.A. I still played tennis regularly with friends and in a few leagues. Interestingly, people began to ask if I taught tennis lessons. As I started to coach them, I fell in love with teaching. It was awesome to see people improving their games, and expanding their views of what was possible for them day after day. I knew I had found my calling.

Today I’m a professional tennis coach. And after coaching everyone from age four to 84, I realize that the day I stepped on to the tennis courts that summer, I had accidentally discovered a fun, sociable way to stay fit for the rest of my life.

It’s easy to guarantee you get exercise for the rest of your life and have a great time doing it. All you have to do is find a fun sport that you can play with your friends until OMG means “ouch, my groin!” to you.

We were each hammering our serves. He was attacking with his groundstrokes, and me with my transition/volley game.

It started looking like this was one of the best matches we had ever had with each other.

Then we entered the 9th game, tied 4 a piece, with him serving at break point.

The point started out with a bullet of a serve into my body that I defensively deflected into the middle of the court. He followed it up with a deep cross court forehand that I lunged to retrieve with a high, looping lob. He was in complete control of the point, and I was scrambling to stay in it. He then hit a short angle to my backhand side. As I chipped it back, he hit a lob over my head that I sprinted back towards the baseline for, and after hitting a solid forehand down the line, my friend missed into the net because he stopped moving his feet.

What followed was right out of a John McEnroe episode.

He started screaming at himself louder than a baby who didn't get the toy at the checkout stand.

His racket was next. He raised it above his head, and in two motions shattered it completely.

In the midst of his rampage, he went back to grab another racket, and after he smashed his second racket, he said "I give up, I quit."

He sheepishly walked off the court, said "I'm sorry dude... I just get so frustrated with myself."

Looking back on it, it wasn't that he was losing. It's that he stopped trying.

After I retrieved his lob, he lost focus, and stopped trying.

I had won with sheer effort, and he had lost with a lack of effort.

It was then obvious to me that sometimes, it doesn't matter who's got a better game, or better strokes, or even better tactics.

It's all about competition, and trying your hardest every point.

Effort can win you more points than hundreds of lessons, because it requires no talent.

It's a mindset.

If you decide to compete every single point, not only will you win more matches, you'll feel a lot better about yourself.

So, get out there, give it your all and have fun!
4 easy steps to help you play your best!

You've seen those shirts and banners everywhere, right?

"Keep calm and eat breakfast". Or whatever the call to action might be.

The slogan has gone viral, and the message is pretty clear. Just stay focused on whatever task you're engaging with.

Eliminate distractions.

But how do we do this??

When I was visiting Japan a few months back, I got a chance to watch a few tennis matches in between tours of Mt. Fuji and Nara, the world's only colony of domesticated deers.

One match in particular stood out to me.

It was between two seemingly sweet women having a friendly match on a Thursday afternoon. They were probably both business professionals just blowing off some steam after a long day.

After one point it became clear that one woman was in complete control of the match.

It was a 15-16 shot rally and it ended with one of the women hitting an easy forehand into the net.

Now, the Japanese are known for being very kind, respectful, and conservative. But, if you saw this woman after this point, you'd be thinking she was a crazed lunatic.

She was berating herself, throwing her hands up in the air, and shaking her head in frustration. You may have seen this on tv when Youzhny drew blood on his forehead with his racket during this year's french open.

Meanwhile, the other woman looked like she had just meditated cross legged up in the hills for about 2 hours. She was calm, zen-like, and looked totally relaxed.

Can you identify with either of these women? I know I've been in both shoes at some point.

This was so interesting to me because I'm curious about what drives people to do certain things.

Each woman had a ritual they performed after every point.

The crazy woman would walk around nervously, shake her head (as if she knew she were in trouble), and fiddle with her gloves as she muttered to herself. She looked like she was having a terrible time!

The zen-like woman would calmly clear any balls on her side of the court, inspect her strings, take a deep breath, and do some light hopping from foot to foot as she awaited the next point. She looked like she was in a state of bliss and was totally enjoying herself.

Their names could have been Dr. Jeckyl and Mrs. Hyde for all I know.

It was pretty clear who was going to win (and more importantly, who was enjoying herself more).

So I wanted to make an audio that will help keep your head in the game (even if you just missed an easy putaway or won a miraculous point).

Enjoy!

Ramon

P.S. You're awesome. I really appreciate you giving me feedback. Keep it coming!

You can reach me at: ramon@ramonosatennis.com

P.P.S. With the 2012 U.S. Open tennis only days away, excitement builds. Despite Rafael Nadal’s injuries and withdrawal from Flushing Meadows, tennis is in a golden era. The historic rivalry between Roger and Rafa is among the most storied in the game’s history. And then came Novak Djokovic’s dramatic rise in 2011.

But before Federer and Djovokic, before Sampras and Agassi and before McEnroe and Connors, there were two tennis legends who helped create the modern game, and both were named Pancho (Gonzalez and Segura). Their tumultuous friendship lasted 45 years. As recounted in Cy Rice's Man with a Racket, when Gonzalez was asked what he liked about the pro tour, he replied, "Segura and the money."

The two couldn’t have been more different.

Francisco Olegario Segura was born in 1921 in the impoverished seaport village of Guayaquil, Ecuador. Before he was 10, he suffered from malaria and rickets which left him permanently bow-legged. He came by Pancho naturally, however, as it was a nickname for Francisco.

Richard Alonso Gonzalez was born in 1928 in working-class Los Angeles. At age seven, he suffered a horrific gash in the face from the door handle of a passing car, which left him with a prominent scar. He came by Pancho unnaturally, as it was the name many Caucasians derisively gave to all Mexicans.

Finally, I'm up against a familiar opponent! Our history dates back to last season where he beat me in three sets in the spring and we played to a draw in fall. Third set was a victim of the rain.

His game similar to mine. The big difference is he does not get get as many free points off the serve as I do and I'm not as good from the baseline as he is. His forehand can misfire at times, so the plan was to force the ball to that side and let the unforced errors pile up

The warm-up saw ME making unforced errors off the forehand side it seemed as though every 3rd ball was into the fence or three courts down. As we started on another balmy spring day of 49 degrees the route was on! My opponent quickly raced out to a 4-0 lead. I broke to stop the bleeding at 4-1, but he broke and held for the set.

What happened to the plan? As Mike Tyson said," Everyone has a plan until they get hit in the mouth!" I did add more spin to my forehand in an effort to keep it in the court, unfortunately that lead to the ball landing shorter in the court and his forehand that I thought would give unforced gifts gave me nothing but pain as hard topspin shots rained down two inches from the line. I kept the 2nd set respectable, breaking at 5-2 and trying to serve to make it 5-4. A flubbed volley wide at 15-40 gave him the match 6-1, 6-3.

As we spoke after the match he said that he had been working on hitting the forehand with spin for the outdoor season as he likes to hit flatter indoors. It apparently worked as was really able to take the offensive that day. I definitely have to come up with a new strategy for this guy. I thought his back hand was his strength but I may have to look to break it down if the forehand continues to be such a deadly weapon.

My next opponent has been iffy so I put in a raincheck and will get back to him later. My next scheduled opponent is a familiar foe. Whenever I play him the words of Ali come to mind, "To win, all I must do is suffer."

Temp was about 45 degrees Fahrenheit, another great spring day in Chicago. It was about 5 pm so I was not sure if we would get the match in under natural light.

My opponent looked to be someone who had been bumped down so I was wary of higher level play. Once again he was a opponent with a one handed backhand and a big forehand. This opponent would come over the bh but not with tremendous topspin. Volley was steady and serve kind of flat he could place it though.

I came out smokin'! Winning the first 5 games and looking to break to drop my second bagel in consecutive sets on consecutive days but he held to end my 11 game winning streak. A sloppy service game and then I broke to secure the set. During the 5 game beat-down I saw my opponent switch racquets, now he was doing it between sets. I appeared to be one of those old Yonex sticks with a squarish head. I seemed to work as he broke a held for a 2-0 lead I battled to be a point away from 4-4. My opponent held and then broke to take the set 6-3. I think the four sets of tennis finally got to me as my forehand just became a slap and my backhand started landing short. However, my legs still worked and I proceeded to throw myself all over the court and not give up on any ball. It seemed to work as i served for the match at 5-4. The sinking sun proceeded to make it hard to serve on the North side of the court as a rightie and I was broken. I stuck to my one more ball strategy and broke back. 4 good serves from the south side of the court and I am 2-0!

I am familiar with my next opponent so I know what to expect. He is one of few one handers that is comparable with me as far as variety and power. Another war for our hero!
Flex League 2015 Match 1tag:tennisopolis.com,2015-05-05:1869403:BlogPost:11904042015-05-05T00:46:04.000ZJazz Burkshttp://tennisopolis.com/profile/JazzBurks

My 1st match was actually my last match. My opponent was on vacation and wanted to get the match in. This being a flex league and I'm nothing if not flexible. I get the e-mail at work, but luckily I brought my bag and tennis clothes so we set up a time and place for the match.

I know another flex league sponsors Tennisopolis but as treacherous as the spring is in Chicagoland, playing in two flex leagues is tennis suicide. The match temperature was 52 degrees Fahrenheit and the wind was blowing super hard as you could hear it whistle through the chain link fence surrounding the courts. Researching my opponent it seems that he was coming up from 4.0 after a pretty successful 2014.

In the warm up I noticed that he used a slice backhand exclusively. It rarely missed but it could be a liability when attacked by high topspin. The forehand seemed to be a weapon when he would hit it. My opponent wanted to go straight to serves but I wanted to warm up my volleys and overheads. I got mine and he didn't take his (of course I didn't offer :-P). Serve was serviceable he seemed to hit with plenty of slice but on these courts it wouldn't hurt me too bad.

I won the spin and decided to serve, the pinpoint accuracy that I had in the warm up was gone and I was promptly broken. My opponent held pretty easily and I was broken again. Down 3-0 I really had no change of plans, I put a little more air under my shots and spin to keep the ball in and high to his backhand. It seemed to work as I broke back. I also realized why he didn't want volley practice as his net game could use some improvement. I then held and and broke and held to go up 4-3. We traded holds for 5-4 and broke for the set!

In the 2nd set I thought that he might start to run around his backhand and fire his forehand but he seemed committed to the losing strategy. I reeled off the first four games of the set when I saw the first hint of desperation as he tried a topspin backhand pass from the deuce court as I rushed the net. I held and then broke for the match with a DTL backhand pass! Showing him how it was done and giving him a bagel in the process!
Flex League 2015 Previewtag:tennisopolis.com,2015-05-04:1869403:BlogPost:11903092015-05-04T23:57:55.000ZJazz Burkshttp://tennisopolis.com/profile/JazzBurks

I've been playing Gladiator Tennis since 2012, before my return to tournament singles tennis. Well, 2013 was the year of a bum knee and right shoulder that pretty much put me on the singles shelf. 2014 saw me return to GT at the level I was at in 2012 (4.5). The spring season was an abomination. I got my clock cleaned for 5 straight matches, lost a heartbreaking 3rd set tiebreak, and then won my last match beating the other guy that was probably close to 4.0 in that league 6-4, 6-4. It was a case of well... they can't BOTH lose all their matches.

In Summer I dropped down to 4.0 and the ugly specter of injury reared it's head again. I was playing my first match on the Northwestern University outdoor courts and I was winning pretty handily but the University was holding a kids tourney so after taking the first set pretty easily 6-3, (shoulda' been 6-1) I had to leave the oohs and ahhs of the tweens and finish the match in Leahy park. Now, leaving the immaculate, topspin-friendly courts of NU for the cracked, dusty, foliage littered courts of Leahy is an adjustment. The thing about my opponent's game is that it was based on slice so Leahy park was beneficial to his game. One loose service game and I was down trying to climb back into the set and take the match. Then it happened, I was up 15-40 on his serve and I go out wide to the forehand to return a serve I pull a muscle in my lower back! I win the game on a double fault and I'm trying to serve to stay in the set. My legs are working fine but I can't twist my torso. I lose the set and the match tie break. Somehow I healed up enough to play the next week. It was a pretty tight affair that saw us get kicked off the court for some timed rules (and threats to call the cops!). It was nice as my opponent streamed the Wimby women's final and we saw Kvitova win her second. I take the 2nd set and a match tiebreak with a WTH attitude and letting the big serve rip! The rest of the matches were uneventful as I won the season by percentage points!

Fall saw me back at 4.5 where I had competitive losses and some wins. Won a match in in the playoffs and lost in the 2nd round mainly due to darkness. The body held up ok over the Winter now I'm ready to go again! The lineup is out and it includes some old opponents and some new faces, let's see how it goes!

No, it's not Billy Jean King National Tennis Center. It's homier and there is usually plenty to enjoy, see or do while matches aren't underway. The event and facility staffs are fantastic and helpful. There are a vast number of national and local vendors there, tennis-related and otherwise.
Top-seeded Serena Williams would not take her foot off the pedal against an opponent that had beaten her twice and reached No. 2 in the world on Monday at the Miami Open, steamrolling past No. 24 seed Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-2, 6-3.

“Playing Svetlana, I know she’s super tough — we always have super tough matches,” Williams said. “The last time we played I was just fighting my hardest and I was barely able to win, so today I knew I had to come out super, super focused, and I really just tried to do the best I could out there.”

Elder Williams sister Venus was also up against a tough customer on Monday, keeping her career undefeated streak alive against former No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki, handling the Dane 6-3, 7-6(1). She will next face No. 12 Carla Suarez Navarro, an upset winner over No. 7 Agnieszka Radwanska 5-7, 6-0, 6-4.

No. 3 seed Simona Halep and unseeded American Sloane Stephens set up a quarterfinal meeting on Monday as the Romanian tamed No. 15 Flavia Pennetta 6-3, 7-5, and the American downed Swiss riser Belinda Bencic 6-4, 7-6(5).

Two upset winners advancing on the day were No. 9 Andrea Petkovic over No. 8 Ekaterina Makarova 6-1, 7-5, and No. 27 Sabine Lisicki rolled over No. 11 Sara Errani 6-1, 6-2. Lisicki now meets Serena.

“I played one of the best sets I’ve ever played in the first set today,” Petkovic said. “She’s such a great player, though, and it was clear she was going to come back in the second set. I’m lucky I was able to play well at the end and get away with it, and win the match in straight sets.”

American John Isner was the only upset-maker on the men’s side Monday in round of 32 action as the big server brushed aside No. 9 seed Grigor “Baby Not Fed” Dimitrov 7-6(2), 6-2.

Top 10-seeded winners were No. 1 Novak Djokovic ripping Steve Darcis 6-0, 7-5; No. 4 Kei Nishikori rolling Viktor Troicki 6-2, 6-2; No. 5 Milos Raonic almost falling off the table against No. 31 Jeremy Chardy 6-1, 5-7, 7-6(3); and No. 6 David Ferrer topping No. 26 Lukas Rosol 6-4, 7-5.

Isner will next meet Raonic.

“I don’t believe [Dimitrov] played his best tonight, but I feel like I had a lot to do with that,” said Isner, who is in the midst of his best run in Miami. “I was a little nervous at the beginning. I hadn’t played at night here; hadn’t played on center court yet. Everything is different; the conditions are different. I wasn’t really going for my shots too much.”

Other players through to the round of 16 were No. 12 Gilles Simon, No. 18 David Goffin, and Alexandr Dolgopolov.

Dolgopolov will next have his hands full against the world No. 1.

“I know his game pretty well,” Djokovic said. “I know what to expect. Hopefully I’ll be able to start as well as I did in the first two matches, but then end it in a bit different way, keep the concentration going all the way through.”
Super Sexy Roger Federer at Indian Wellstag:tennisopolis.com,2015-03-17:1869403:BlogPost:11833022015-03-17T17:45:10.000Zphillip k.http://tennisopolis.com/profile/phillipkim
