Racquet Weight

Posted on June 27, 2013 at 10:30am 6 Comments

Quite a few of my students play with racquets that I think are too heavy and grips that are too large.  It's a sensitive issue.  The player gets used to the weight of the racquet and may be reluctant to change (or maybe can't afford to change).  It feels more difficult for me to help them get more racquet speed and be quicker around the net when the racquet may be affecting their technique.

I started with a wooden racquet and got good racquet speed since I had a whippy forehand and…

Freelance Tennis Instruction

Posted on March 8, 2012 at 1:47pm 0 Comments

I do most of my teaching freelance.  Some is through local parks and recreation.  Freelance is in private communities (with permission) and public and private courts where there may be uninforced rules about commercial use of the courts.

I would like to start a discussion with any of you who are working in the capacity.  We might find it supportive to share some ideas about what works and what doesn't.

I will also post this message as a "Discussion".  Not sure who reads…

What's up Ron? Do you have a web site? I would think that would be good for marketing your excellent services as well. If the informal lesson group going to startup again? Rich

Hi Ron! Welcome to the "community-based" tennis social network which connects tennis players, fans, coaches, and you.

What can you do here?
At Tennisopolis, you can:
- find new students.
- meet other players. Here's a primer on how to find partners.
- join a Group. Members have started over 190 Local Groups (and other types of Groups too.) Search for one in your area, or start your own.
- follow the pros. There are over 500 blog posts on Tennisopolis. Have a good read, or write your own.
- improve your game. Get tips in the Forum and check out video lessons.
- post your own Videos or embed your favorites from youtube.
- add your own Photos.
- and just hang out and connect with great people.

To get started, please upload a photo or avatar for yourself (if you haven’t already.) Whether it's of you, your dog, or your racquet it doesn't matter, but it helps people remember you. You can also personalize Your Page with pictures, links, RSS feeds, colors and more here.

Thanks to everyone inviting their friends, we now have over 10,000 members and we're growing by 100 new members a day. Invite yours too!

If you need any help, let me know.
M
