Nearly had the elusive 4 ace game, managed three and an unreturnable......

Damn that is impressive Meags.  I didn't know that you had that big of a serve.

There's another photo on my page at the top of the swing.....straight arm pronation shot

You're just so far into the court and your serving shoulder is a good foot (or more) into the court. Your friggin elbow is so far into the court, I can only think that elbow was high at the top of the swing, then add that massive striding jump, the elbow gets thrusted into the court. Roddick's elbow really has a long travel into the court like that.

Yeah, I pretty much think kick and twist serves in the long run wear the lower back too much for a tournament for heavy usage. When you get tired, then they sit up, and the returner dusts them off. I'd rather stick to flats, slices, and moderate topspin slices.

Tim I've not measured the pace, I've watched a lot of big serving pros live and I'm not hitting it any slower. I do vary the pace a lot and I get a lot of movement thro the air so I really like the swinging body serve. Cos I serve with pace, opponents stand well back which gives me loads of options with the one down the middle or the slider out wide. But more than anything its my second serve that's pleasing, its faster than most of my club members first serves. I'm not a big kicker fan on our artificial courts they tend to just sit up, but on hard etc its nice to have as an option but I prefer pace and movement.

Actually, this picture reminds me to get the full extension forwards into the court and make the pronating arm go "full body weight through" the ball. Big difference in effect on the topspin/ topspin slice serves too. I can see that serve must be utterly wicked. How fast is your top speed, and is it the flatty you hit here?

Had a couple of sets of doubles this morning before the rain set in, I don't think I lost a single point on my serve. At the moment having new balls and good conditions I feel I can do anything on serve. Nearly had the elusive 4 ace game, managed three and an unreturnable......
